HELP!! What is going on with this message I'm getting that when I click on any of my items it says "Sorry, this item is unavailable in your region."
Is this costing me sales??? How do I get this fixed ASAP?
That's because you are selling live plants. Lots of forum posts about that.
We see 47 listings on your home page and did not get that message on the several listings we looked at. Not sure how Etsy implements this, but this should be location based. Depending on where the seller and buyer are, some things may be "illegal" to sell (or export) other things may be forbidden to purchase (or import), and some may be both. As the seller it is up to you to ensure that you comply with all federal and state and local regulations for where you do business.
It's affected 8 of my listings and have taken one down. I'm in the same state as my own shop where I should be able to sell any plant I have in my own state. If it's looking at zip codes, I'm in my own state. Makes no sense.
@JulliganIslandPlants - Do read the following link. I think your Angel's Trumpet may cause you further grief:

@JulliganIslandPlants I could buy any of your plants but you can’t ship plants to me in Arizona.
My neighbor could buy any of my plants, and I could ship it to them, we are in the same state. Yet, this issue is not distinguishing and just saying it's not available in the area...no matter the area.
The angel's trumpet is very poisonous and can cause hallucinations in some people.
There is a never ending list of extremely poisonous plants, including the beloved Poinsettia on sale everywhere in the winter holidays.
Thank you for the information. I have no less than 7 Angel Trumpets, large trees, and never have I or any pets taken a "trip" on them. Nor have all my neighbors who have them. Nevertheless, I delisted them. I'm not on the Noxious Weed List and I don't see anything on the bad list regarding Begonias, etc., that flagged. Very confusing. Devastating, really. I added my license info. Back to other platforms, I guess.
what other platforms do you use?
i sell seeds and Etsy has put that message on 77 of my 200 listings!! stuff like Basil, Cosmos, Zinnias. really???? with no notification at all.
i've sent 2 emails, but i'm getting a computer generated response with no specifics. if they'd tell me why, i would correct it.
I suspect that a lawyer makes a "better safe than sorry" decision about these things to protect Etsy.
Unjustified Restriction: Sorry, this item is unavailable in your region.
Hello,
Two of my solar lights are not showing to US customers on my Etsy store. The products are:
1. Malibu Marker, Shade Solar Light
2. Aspen Floodlight, Shade Solar Light
I requested a callback from Etsy. The woman who called was very polite but said there is "system problem" or something like that. My solar lights got flagged as plants and seed, then restricted from sale in USA by US Fish & Wildlife request Etsy received. I have been trying for 6 days now to lift this restriction. No luck.
I did not receive a notice of policy violation from Etsy. I did not receive an Infringement Notification from Etsy.
This problem is harming my shop reputation. Sales, search traffic and conversion rate are down substantially.
The woman from Etsy said they have received many requests from seller who have been unfairly targeted. She said that the team who lifts restrictions is overwhelmed. She gave no time frame for removing the restriction. But further probing revealed it could be weeks, months, or never.
Don't know What else to do?
Thanks,
Gary
Batteries in solar lights probably
There are new laws about coin style batteries. Kids 14 & under should not have easy access to the batteries - so the receptacle holding the batteries must be compliant.
There are "older tech" nickel cadmium (NiCad) that are rechargeable. Then there are the "newer" Lithium batteries. I know there are restrictions & labeling requirements when it comes to shipping Lithium batteries but I don't know about NiCads. But I doubt Etsy is deactivating items proactively in case the shop owner doesn't ship a package properly labeled.
It's probably an Etsy bot, programmed to look for the word "battery".
@ShadeSolarLights - You mentioned that you have spoken to an Etsy rep. If you have not received any sort of email confirmation of the conversation, that your shop's issue is being reviewed, I'd suggest contacting Etsy via an email help request. You can do a quick recap of the situation. Be factual & polite.
Either way - whether you have received an email from Etsy confirming you have an open help request - or they send some sort of generic reply to an email you do send - keep replying to that email that your issue is not resolved. Don't open new tickets since that will only put you to the end of the line.
And yes, sadly it may take weeks for your issue to be handled.
Etsy emailed me back about my solar light restriction. The problem was not batteries. The lights were mischaracterized (by and Etsy bot I guess) as seeds or soil. Thanks for your replies.
Gary
@ShadeSolarLights - Well they are for use in the garden.
There goes those bots trying to think again, lol.
Hopefully everything returns to normal for you quickly.
