Hello!
Yesterday I was made aware that one of my listings had some sort of weird error. For the video part of the listing, it was this gif/video of someone else's product (hats). I know for a fact that I had never put this video on my listing, and I even searched all my photos and videos in my camera roll and my phone has never had this video saved in it at all.
I was worried that I had been hacked and will be changing my passcodes (I do have 2 factor authentication for login). I just think it is so odd and I was looking through the logs for login and nothing seemed out of place, I couldn't go father than the past week for login history. Could this be an etsy error or a hacking?!
I did a google image lens search of the gif and it linked me to another shop on etsy that has the exact same photos of the hat. I'll keep the GIF up so you guys can see what I'm talking about! Its under my listing (PAIR of Giraffe Weevils) and it is in the video portion. the shop that it linked back to on Etsy is CrossBrandLaser, or if you do a Google image search that shop will show up! And the video is the same video as in their listing for "OFF road hat, just send it, hat for him".
Help?! thank you!!!
I think it's more of an Etsy glitch. If someone hacked your account they would be doing more than adding a video!
Almost certainly an Etsy glitch. I heard of this happening before and it was something to do with the identifier number or code given on the video during upload. Think the lady uploaded again and renamed the video. Not sure of the technicalities of it all but it's definitely Etsy and not you!
@littlelaurenarts: Not likely that this is an indication that you were hacked. Based on other threads in this forum, the issue seems to arise from name clashes and / or indexing glitches. If you edit the listing, does the video show in the photo section?
How strange!
I've also read a few threads here in the forums where another Etsy seller's video appeared in place of their own listing video.
From memory it was something to do with the filename or indexing as others have mentioned. Perhaps the original seller uploaded the video and then sometime down the track the second seller happened to upload with the same filename and so it replaced the original seller's video.
A weird error that shouldn't occur that seems to only randomly occasionally happen. Etsy's upload functionality should ensure that a video works regardless if everyone uploaded files with the same filename (there are many ways to program for that scenario).
If you still have your original video, can you try and change the filename and re-upload it?
