Let me start by saying that I don't use variations vary often so I may have done something wrong but no idea what. I have a listing with vintage wine bottle baskets in different models. I listed them as variations with a number. Now two baskets have sold (I have one only of each). I checked on the listing and all of them still showed for sale - not sold out. I have had to set the quantity to zero manually and now the drop-down shows "sold out" for two.
Also when I changed the quantity to zero there was en error message saying the qty had to be minimum 1 , but when I saved the changes they were saved regardless.
Is this a known issue or do you normally have to edit sold out variations manually?
There is another feature in the "variations" section whereby you add a "specific picture" to the variation (in your case different models of wine bottle baskets) You can add the number of each basket you have for sale. As the baskets are sold, the numbers will change and if you sell the listed quantity of a specific model, it will be marked as "sold out" in the dropdown feature.
You need to set the quantity of each one - you can never have zero.
I only set them to zero after they sold, to have them show as “sold out”.
Did you select "quantity varies" when setting up the listing?
Hmm, no don’t think so. There was one of each, all the same quantity.
"Quantity varies" gives you a separate inventory for each variation. The name is a little confusing.

Thank you, I didn’t know about the pictures so must have set it up wrong. Still I did set the quantity of each item (1) and they were visible in the listing so I’m still a bit puzzled why they were not “sold out” until I set it to zero manually. Have to be more careful next time.
