Showing Notification, but nothing is there?

Jump to solution

Hello Everyone!

I don't know if it is just a glitch or something else but last night when I was checking on my Shop, making sure listings had changed (I changed some prices and wanted to make sure everything was correct) I noticed that I had a notification at the top of the page, where it would be if I had a not shipped or processed sale, or a message. I went into the Dashboard and there was nothing. I checked again this morning and it was still there. I have checked with two different computers.

Is this a glitch or am I missing something? I don't want to miss anything.

Any ideas?

Could be an Etsy announcement on your dashboard.

Then there's the notifications that something you as a buyer carted or saved for later is on sale. Or possibly you made a purchase here recently & that little dot (usually with a number inside) is trying to encourage you to leave a review. Or it could be a glitch.

Or, yes, as NanaLetha said, it might be a way to tell you to go read something Etsy thinks is important so they placed a banner in the shop manager.

I don't think it's for something Etsy wants me to read. I checked, there isn't anything there. The notification is on the Dashboard icon not the little bell.

@HiddenTreasuresbyBob  - Check your shop's payment account.
Over the past few months there have been glitches where orders that were labeled pending due to payment processing delays had the funds placed in the shop's account. Even though in reality the order really was pending & shouldn't be shipped.

This caused headaches with the shop's trying to manage their payment accounts but also the orders were shown as "not shipped, it's late" stuff.

And I guess you could check your Finance pages in the shop manager to be sure you're all set with bank account confirmation & that your credit card on file isn't expired, or something like that.

@JMOldeVintage I went through and checked every menu / tab on the Dashboard. I didn't see anything. I also haven't had a sale in a little while, a few days, so the only changes in the payment account are listing fees. Card is good, as is the account information. But thanks for the advice.

I've noticed the same thing in my shop too, notification symbol but nothing new. Chalking it up to a bug or glitch in the system...

I think the new app is set by default to alert you even when someone faves your items. You can change the settings in parameters/ notifications.

I get notifications on my dashboard when etsy announces something, I have a new order or if I need to leave feedback on a purchase and sometimes it is just a glitch.

I have 7 notifications that show on the icon but, as you have, I search everywhere to no avail. Glitch, then. I will ignore it and hope it's not like fb marketplace, I sold something on a local page & mktplace msgs were hiding ?? Found one 3 years later.

I have the same issue but it's only on my computer, not on my phone app.  I've tried logging out of my account and then logging back in, but it doesn't clear the single notification.  It's very annoying!

Same. Only see it on my computer and not on my phone. Been selling for 3 months and its only been happening the past week. But I can't find what it is in the shop manager that causes it, although there's a little 2 on the manager icon when viewing my shop. But I just then went through every tab and it's cleared it. But I have no idea which tab it was - ha. But yep - its annoying!

I have it going on right now, super annoying to have a notification and it not actually be real. I have also had it where there was 1 new notification and nothing is new, only to have a "new" email show up the next day and say I did not get back to them in a timely manner. Which I would have if the message actually showed up in my Etsy inbox. I Know its a bug, probably put there on purpose.

So make sure you take a screenshot of your inbox either way, because a day later you might actually see the message come in and say the same thing. This happens to me alot but I catch it. Check your inbox even if you have no notification of new mail since Etsy's site won't always tell you and can have your star seller taken away, like in my case, I had to wait to get it back. But I now know that it continues to happen and I cannot trust Etsy's site. To be honest, no one should be trusting Etsy for anything.

I also want to re-iterate as I have said this on other posts, that I am a experienced developer of websites, games, and programs, among other things, I know 12 programming langurs like the back of my hand, there is no excuse for Etsy's site to be in such a condition, especially for a corporation.
