I've just set up my shop, CatrionaGibsonArt. When trying to buy from my shop, there's no option to buy now or put in basket, etc, it's like that end stage of setting up isn't there,so impossible to buy. Please advise.
Thank you.
You cannot buy things from your own shop. Your shop is working fine for me. Although it says you do not ship to the United States. Make sure you add your shop location to your page.
When I type in my shop name it comes up with Gibson Guitars, this is on my husband's phone. I've had messages saying I've sold an item but it needs to be verified with either QR code or some link, is this normal? Didn't follow up as thought it was a scam. Any help appreciated
Be careful running your shop via the phone apps.
They are glitchy.
Highly suggest you go to your shop dashboard on a computer and look at the messages and warnings from Etsy about scams, messages, etc.
As others have stated those are scam attempts. Always look at your shop dashboard for sales.
@CatrionaGibsonArt The message you have received is a scam. Do not use the QR code. There are lots of threads in the forums about scams you can read. Good luck with your shop.
As mentioned, you can't buy from your own shop. I would recommend you post in the shop critiques forum too and ask for some tips as there are several things you could do to get your items seen by more people.
yes, that is a SCAM
If Etsy ever require you to verify anything, it will show as a banner on your dashboard, not as a message -- and certainly not using QR codes or any other link taking you off-site.
Genuine messages from Etsy staff will be in the "From Etsy" folder of your Messages, not just in the Inbox. You will need to check this via a browser rather than the app.
I see both 'but now' and 'add to basket' buttons. Try logging out of your Etsy account and then look at your listings.
Etsy search does not work for shop names - it looks at the keywords in your listing title and tags (plus attributes and description). If you want your listings to show up for a search using your name, I suggest you put that in your tags.
Watch out for the scammers. Etsy hardly ever communicates via Etsy messages - when they do, it will be in the 'from Etsy' folder. Most messages therefore will be from buyers - so if you get one impersonating Etsy staff then it's likely a scam. Buyers do not need your email address or your credit card details.
etsy search does work on shop names
when I type my shop name in, it comes up with - find shop names containing craftycornishmaids - and it does
@CraftyCornishMaids ok but you have to tell it you're looking for a shop and click on the suggestion that pops up - most people over look that bit. This is on a browser.
I notice it's different on the app. That actually gives you shop suggestions now. I'm not sure it always did that.
when I type in
craftycornishmaids, I don't even hit return or search, it automatically comes up with the - find shops containing craftycornishmaids, and I just click on it
I don't have to tell it I want a shop, it offers it to me before I search
I suggest using a browser to get acquainted with how your shop needs to work on Etsy. The app has issues so best place to learn is a browser. Read all pertinent information including the information Etsy places in messages about scams.
