Shop Closed, Unable to Reopen

I contacted etsy support to reopen my shop but was told they were unable to verify my information, couldn't tell me why not and just asked me to check for an email from them. I no longer had access to the old email address my shop was registered with, so requested a change of email which was completed. I still dont have any emails about why my shop was closed and how to reopen it. Its been two weeks since I first contacted etsy and the replies have been the same. Check my email.

At this point I am frustrated and dont know what else to do. I called them and was told they couldnt deal with reopening shops over the phone. I have uploaded my legal ID etc. I dont have over due fees. All my items are completely handmade. I had 5 star reviews and no cases. I just want to get my shop reopened but I dont know what else to do.

Re: Shop Closed, Unable to Reopen

I haven't as I don't know why it is closed to appeal it. Also it doesnt say it has been suspended, just says closed by etsy and to contact etsy support to reopen it?

Perhaps others could "guess" if you gave a little more detail?  WHAT did you list?  Any infringement or use of trademarks, etc.?

Re: Shop Closed, Unable to Reopen

and how long was it closed? How long between it being closed and you trying to reopen?

I hope you're able to appeal.

Re: Shop Closed, Unable to Reopen

I listed my handmade jewellery. It was cartoon animals designed by myself in cabachon jewellery bases such as pendants, earrings etc. As I designed each and every animal drawing myself, I cant see any way there could be any issues trademarks or copyright.

Re: Shop Closed, Unable to Reopen

I went into file an appeal and it shows my shop was suspended on the 2nd of July. As my family circumstances are more settled now and I felt ready and able to begin selling again,  I logged into my shop around the 1st of august and contacted support. I have filed an appeal with the option: I have not violated Etsy's policies or had any account issues.

@rj18t8w6   If you were unable to complete the process for bank verification then Etsy suspennds a shop after 30 days.

If you were unable to verify the new email address by getting the verification code from the old email then you may have a bit of an issue there.  Did you tell Etsy that you had no access to the old email?

Use email rather than chat or phone.  State in it specifically what you have gone through.  Tell them you can't verify your new email address as the old one is completely gone.  They may tell you that they can reopen or they may tell you to open a new shop.  The link above for suspended shops has the button at the bottom to send an email.

Re: Shop Closed, Unable to Reopen

did you make any inspired by comments in your descriptions or used known brands or character names in your tags ?

Re: Shop Closed, Unable to Reopen

No, not at all. The animals I drew were not inspired by anything other than the actual real life animals. So there was no known brands or character names.

Re: Shop Closed, Unable to Reopen

The change in email may have triggered something

..... but we have also seen issues around needing to re-register your financials. If you can get into your sellers dashboard, id see if you have a prompt for this info in your financial area . Also check that your financials all match against the registered shop info ( if the names are slightly out ... say your bank account uses your initials and your shop is registered with your full name , then this can trigger a suspension- I had this issue in the past )

Have you done a reverse search on your images  to see if someone is using them. This can trigger an Etsy take down  bots .

Other than this i'm out of suggestions , check out the How to file an appeal for a suspension above.

Since it's been so long, since July 2... Do you owe any etsy fees? Is there an outstanding balance needs paying???

Re: Shop Closed, Unable to Reopen

You said you called them and they said they couldn’t deal with reopening shops over the phone? How were you able to call them? If you found a number in Google, it’s not Etsy. They don’t have a number to call. Is it possible your store was hijacked and Etsy closed it down? Or a scenario that’s similar? When you gave a new email to replace your old address, was that over the phone when you called? I’m asking because info may not have even gone to Etsy but rather a scammer.

Re: Shop Closed, Unable to Reopen

Update: I just checked my appeal and it is marked as request complete....with no replies or anything. This is beyond frustrating.
