Shipsurance No Longer Links with Etsy...

...according to a message screen that pops up when going to their site.  Instead they say to sign up with their sister company PayHelm, because Etsy made changes to their site that block the link.

Etsy's label page still shows Shipsurance as the insurer.  Whether that is because PayHelp is related or because Etsy hasn't changed things yet, who knows?

I tried running an order through with insurance to see if any messages came up.  The insurance went through, no messages, but the label was automatically purchased instead of giving me a chance to review it.  I really wasn't planning on buying the label!

Can Etsy ever do anything right the first time?  And can they ever communicate problems with sellers BEFORE we have to try to figure out what is going on?

And when  you go to PayHelm, it is an ecommerce analytics company.  No mention of made of shipping insurance.  Only the option to sign up for a 14-day free trial of their site.

Re: Shipsurance No Longer Links with Etsy...

I just took a peek at PayHelm... Looks like they do shipping insurance and repeatedly reference Shipsurance. How it would work I'm not sure. But here's their page on insurance:

Re: Shipsurance No Longer Links with Etsy...

How did you get to that page?  All I was getting was an opening page to start a free trial and was focused only on analytics.

Their terms look like Shipsurance's terms, which would make sense because they say that Shipsurance is their insurer.

@dayspringcollectible
Yeah... when I went to the PayHelm home page I didn't see anything about insurance either. So... I went to google and did a search for "PayHelm shipping insurance" and Voila, there it was!   Google comes thru once again!

Re: Shipsurance No Longer Links with Etsy...

I hate companies that are not transparent on their home page though, no drop downs to the available pages.

It looks like an attempt to get people signed up to their services.  In fact, one of my team members said when she tried to access things, a CC was requested to continue.  So after the 14-day free trial period are they going to try an automatic charge?

If this is their substitute for Shipsurance, we should be able to access the insurance without hitting any other pages.

I couldn't agree more. And I fail to see HOW it would work with PayHelm. My sense is that to get the insurance (which you have to pay for), you'd also need to sign up for PayHelm which I'm guessing would be a monthly fee.
What a mess....

Re: Shipsurance No Longer Links with Etsy...

Now this is odd. The other week, Netparcel suddenly stopped working with Etsy - couldn't import. They said Etsy changed something and it took NP a week to make it work again. They recommended going through Shipstation instead but they have a monthly fee - no freaking way! On Paypal, it's free, why should I pay a monthly fee ($29.95US by the way)?

I hate this crap...you just never know who's in bed with who these days.

Re: Shipsurance No Longer Links with Etsy...

And there's a pinned thread in this forum about issues with Stamps.com. I don't know if those issues were ever resolved.

The cynic in me feels this is a way to try & have shop owners get a warm & fuzzy feeling that their packages are insured under the protection program. But a quick read of the link SewlyButtons provided doesn't seem to indicate there would be insurance on "not received" (porch pirated) packages.

IMO it's one thing for Etsy to decide to make changes to various aspects of features they offer. It's another thing to just spring it upon shop owners who are left to wonder what's going on.

Re: Shipsurance No Longer Links with Etsy...

I thought SS did away with any PP coverage a couple years ago?

Re: Shipsurance No Longer Links with Etsy...

@hopeandjoystudios  - I didn't think they did either. In fact I think there was a thread about it a couple of years ago?

However I went to Shipsurance's FAQ page & they do mention they have some programs that cover for theft/porch pirates. Though this may be something Etsy has to sign up for? Or each shop owners might have to do it individually?
And then of course the fine print would need to be gone thru with a fine tooth comb.

Re: Shipsurance No Longer Links with Etsy...

@hopeandjoystudios Sorry, was unclear there. I use Netparcel to buy labels through my PP account. You can also buy Netparcel labels on SS but SS charges a monthly subscription fee whereas PP doesn't. SS offers many other shipping choices but I pretty much stick with UPS.

Re: Shipsurance No Longer Links with Etsy...

@FallsAveVintage

Earlier this month Etsy changed their coding to exclude KarenCheck and EtsyCheck from having access to reviews.  My guess is that this also affected others who had access to information, probably due to bad coding again on Etsy's part.

Shipstation is still listed as the provider of insurance on Etsy labels, and can be purchased without signing up with the company for a monthly fee.  That doesn't help you if you get your labels elsewhere, though.

Re: Shipsurance No Longer Links with Etsy...

I just tried to link my Etsy shop with ShipStation (free trial) and it won't connect either.
Maybe unrelated, but timely, as I was just reading this post.

Why oh why can't they just leave things alone instead of crippling our ability to run our business smoothly.
