Hello, el mensaje en español seguirá.
I am a new Etsy seller of hand made fused glass products, I have a question, and hopefully community asset building topic to discuss.
As of 2021, the population of Mexico was almost 127 million. In recent years, there has also been a rapid growth of the middle class.
That said, unless you use the national mail service, mailing and shipping in Mexico is very expensive, and shipping to the US, Canada, and elsewhere just doesn't make sense unless you want to price yourself out of the market. Unfortunately, the national mail service is also very slow and has a reputation of not being very reliable.
How can we as a community grow in a market that 1. wants our products but 2. Is cut off from our products due to shipping costs? Yes, I know that the old 4Ps of marketing say that I should know better, however, I also believe there is a low cost, low risk, solution out there that can be found if we work as a community.
I would love to hear from any like minded, solutions driven folks in Mexico on this topic. +
Hola,

Gracias!
Correos de Mexico here in the Yucatán recently upgraded their system to printed postage including customs information. I always ship in a bubble mailer with tracking. Most recently it to 2 1/2 weeks to be delivered to the customer in the US.
I haven’t lost a package and have shipped dozens of packages over the years.
Thanks! I am in the Yucatan too!
I live in Chelem but will have a table at the Merida English Library this Sunday. You wouldn’t happen to be vending there, would you?
With Correos de Mexico, does the tracking continue all the way to delivery in US and Canada? Or, just until it leaves Mexico. Asking because mine has been held up in Mexico City since July 10th.
I set up at Slow Food markets on Saturday mornings. What is the MEL lime for you? I live just a few blocks from there.
Mexico, US, and Canada all have an agreement regarding mail. Mexican tracking numbers work throughout North America. So, yes, it tracks across the border and updates. Have you tried entering the number into tracking at USPS.com?
The MEL Summer sale is this Sunday 10 to 2 I think.
If the package is going to Canada try this: https://www.canadapost-postescanada.ca/track-reperage/en.
I haven't shipped anything to Canada in a very long while.
Is there room at MEL if I were to show up tomorrow?
@CRFUSEDGLASS You’d have to ask them. We signed up weeks ago. There is a fee and it doesn’t hurt to ask.
I just tried both USPS and Canada Post. No luck yet. In all, it has been 15 business days so will tough it out a bit longer.
@ArtehyMarmol: Depends on which courier company you will be using. Most have a web page where you can get rates based on package dimensions and weight.
