I offer personalized products on my Etsy shop where I use a printing partner, but I don't see how I can sell the personalized product through Etsy without listing it. A customer has requested a name on one of my blankets, but I certainly don't want to show that on my shop. I asked the printing partner and they said I'd either have to place the order for them or send them a link, both would bypass Etsy altogether from what I can tell. I don't want to do that though...I want the sale to show on Etsy. What do I do?
Why not just add personalization to the listing.
Set up a listing for the item with a personalisation text box but do not link it to your production partner.
When someone orders - create the artwork and get the buyer to approve it via email (if that's part of your workflow).
Once approved - go to your production partner website and manually order the item using the personalised artwork and with the buyers address for delivery.
You can do it with personalization within the item listing as suggested. The other route it to be sure your shop is set to allow custom orders. You do this via the settings area. Then when they request a custom order or personalization via the private message system you can create a custom / private listing to that buyer for which they use to pay through. Then you just go to your print partner - manually order the item, add your design for personalization, then use the "ship to" address as the buyer's info. Once the print partner notifies you of the shipment with the tracking... manually copy and paste that in the Etsy "mark as completed" tracking it asks for.... wahlaaaa order is done.
"but I don't see how I can sell the personalized product through Etsy without listing it." You dont have to list it. Your pod will send it to the customer.
