So get a message from a guy called Max today. Says he needs my email address to complete the sale of an item I just listed. I sent him my email and then very quickly get an email from Etsy Team Sales saying I need to click on the big orange button in the email to confirm the sale. I never click links in an email. Is this a scam doing the rounds or a fresh one? I presume he wants you to log in so they keystroke you and have access to your account. Anyone else had this?
Thankyou for this link. Very good info. I've been on Etsy for three years so guess it was my turn to get a scam attempt.
From what I've heard, the next step is they ask for your bank card details so they can 'pay you'!!!
Total scam. Please mark the message as SPAM so Etsy can block/ban the user account.
Thanks for your reply. Sent that message and all the other ones wanting to do SEO on my shop to the Spam folders.
Is this a scam RING or something?? It’s so organized...
How are there so many similar emails, from different people, for different sellers?!
@LaRenaissanceGirl It's likely multiple scammers. Someone who was getting lots of these messages reported they used Google Analytics to see where their traffic was coming from, and it showed Russia, India, and Nigeria.
Absolute SCAM
Here is the message I send these "Scammers" as a reply. I am sure it does no good but it makes me happy!!
"... the Etsy system manages and can see all activity in all Seller and BUYER accounts.
If yours is not working as intended then, perhaps, you have been hacked by scammers? There is a lot of this going on these days!!
The Etsy pages you have attached are clearly "fakes".
In order to assist you and protect you against these unscrupulous attempts to scam, I will report your account to Etsy Trust and Safety for investigation.
There is no need to thank me or contact me again.
Kind Regards,"
What a great response! Love it!
It is just so scary,,,,
It's a total scam/phishing to get your Etsy email address/login details. You should have never given them your email address, but it is good you never logged in to the fake site, you would have given them everything they wanted.
As you visited the site, please check your PC for malware, run full scans with your virus checker and also get Malwarebytes and run that to check for malware/trojans.
I would also change your password on Etsy just in case to a very strong one, as the spammers now have your email address (presuming it is one you used for Etsy).
Good morning everyone. I too received these emails. all with the request to have the complete email to make the purchase. sad to think that there are such ugly people in this world. that make money on people who try to have a small job for their family.
