Just a heads up.
I received an email stating that one item was sold, but there was an error sending the order confirmation.
The email, which looked exactly like an email from Etsy, asked for my email to verify the one they had on file.
I replied with my email and instantly received another reply asking to verify my credit card. I clicked the link and ended up on a site that resembled Etsy.
I did not fill in the credit card details. Just noticed that the first message was send from this etsy account (Removed by Moderation) stating to be customer service.
Glad you didn't fall for it. It is a known scam on etsy, just wish there was a way to educate new etsy sellers so that others don't get caught. I detest scammers. A couple of my good friends have been caught out (outside of etsy).
@Former_Member
It's a SCAM!!!
Did you not see a pop up on the message page that if a message was from Etsy it would be in the "FROM ETSY" section on the message page?
If it's NOT there it's NOT from Etsy (no matter what that message states).
You have 0 sales, another clue it's a scam. If you had an actual sale it would show up on your order page.
You also should have had a light orange BOX warning right on the message section about these scams.
BUT if you clicked "OK I got it" without reading the info, then you won't see it again.
There's plenty of info on the help pages about getting paid here.
A MUST read for any new seller before they ever open a shop.
There's nothing that states on the help pages that you have to send Etsy or a buyer your email, your bank/CC info etc to get paid.
Etsy already has your email//bank/credit card info, a buyer does not need it, ever!
posted in the wrong place.
@vintageNCtreasures Re: that "OK I got it". When it first came out, I clicked it after reading the info. It has never come back for me. It made me think if this is happening to others (the blurb of text not reappearing), that could be a problem by the time they receive another scam Message.
Was not at the computer when i received the message. I only checked the mail i received on the phone. And the message was sent from support.group@etsy dot com. Looked legit at first but it was obiously spoofed.
The link sent in the email took me to a exact copy of etsy but with a few odd extra letters in the url. I noticed the message on etsy after i received all emails. So they first fished for my email through etsy messages and then went on with the scam attempt through email only.
Anyhow, they failed :]
Glad you figured out that email is not an Etsy email.
Not even close.
Be aware you will probably get lots of scam emails now that you gave the scammer your email address and clicked on the "fake" Etsy page.
Glad you didn't enter in any bank/cc info.
Just to be safe you probably need to run a virus/malware scan on your PC since you did click on that site, just to make sure these scammers didn't install a virus, keylogger, etc on your computer.

And this post has a screenshot showing exactly where all messages from Etsy will be. If they are not under the 'From Etsy' tab, no matter how legit they look, they are scammers:

@Former_Member I'm very sorry you were targeted by these scammers. They've been running amok. In the future, when you get a sale, it will appear on the "Orders & Shipping" Page in your Shop Dashboard. No where else. If it's not there, it's fake.
I'm going to post three threads that all sellers should read, two from Etsy and one I wrote:
