SUSPENDED FOR NO REASON - ETSY IGNORED OUR SUPPORT TICKET PREVIOUSLY

I believe there is a technical issue on ETSY because of the AI bot system.

ETSY thinks that the items we sell are not handmade. They claim that we buy and sell the goods as a resale without any human touch but it is NOT CORRECT!!!!

We have been selling on ETSY more than 4 years and we have a succesfull store with loyal customers. Of course we do buy supplies from china and usa but we do customization on them, we add names, specials designs etc. And also we add some charms next to jewelry according to customers request. All the pictures are belong to us as well. But 3 of our products have been removed by ETSY claiming that they are not handmade. If they would check the product pictures by a HUMAN, they would see that we engrave them with personalization.

We opened a case on ETSY 3 times, added videos and pictures proves that they are handmade and we do assembly and customization on our ATELIER. NO ONE RESPONDED!! And all of the 3 cases closed automaticaly. So we could not find and REAL PERSON to talk and clarify the issue.

Since we had flagged by BOTS already, today we received email saying that our account is SUSPENDED.

I do not understand why it is so hard to put human efford on it. AI bots thinks that my items are not handmade and one morning I wake up and see that I do not have a job anymore.

I know, many shops gets banned by bots more and more everyday for no detailed explanation because bots can not understand it is handmade or not %100.  But I never thought that it would be happening to OUR STORE since WE ARE A succesfull seller with good reviews and all of our products are PERSONALIZED!!!!

Is there anyone experiencing this?? I filled the appeal form and sent the videos while making them but I do not trust ETSY help center anymore since there is not any HUMAN talking to me.  They are maybe losing a succesful seller like me but they are also losing a customers with this careless attitude..

The problem may be that you are not well versed with the new standards for labeling. Did you go through your listings and make sure they were in the correct category now?

I would suggest everyone read the forum every day to keep abreast of what is going on. There seem to be lots of surprising changes.

@NanaLetha We've gone over this more than a few times now. Shops are being suspended, but it looks like they are on vacation, in order for them to wrap up any orders in their shop before they are closed for good. Please stop telling sellers that they are not suspended just because it appears they were forced into vacation mode. It is just a precursor to what is to come, and they do have the email telling them as much.

What about engraving on the items? We do not just assembly but also engrave personalization on them ?

That used to be the thing that Etsy touted the most.

Have your name or initials put on something and it's "one of a kind". They featured these in their "one of a kind gift" promotions.

Hand assembled items, including charm-on-a-chain designs, are still considered to be in the "made by" category, per Etsy's official creativity standards:

"Hand assembled items: Commercially available supplies or components that a seller attached together or combined by hand to create a unique end-product.

• E.g. Using jewelry-making tools to attach charms to a necklace chain; sewing patches onto a denim jacket"

@Chrysalism: Is not the key word here "unique" ? If two shops each put the same charm on the same chain, then at least one of them is not creating a 'unique end-product'.

I offer customization so each one after assembly of the necklace it is according to our customer request, each one need different name, flower, design etc. So l believe that each product receive unique item.

Yes, Etsy was promoting personalized items as one of a kind promotions. All of our store is focused on personalized jewelry, that’s why l am so upset. I can not find anything that l violate Etsy policy. Since the season is coming we have a lot of investment on supply, jewelry boxes, shipping supply etc. Now l do not have any job to do tomorrow and also our team has their individual family l feel responsible with them..

And also l gave all the details about how l prepare the items , picked those two things for my each listings ;

Did every item come engraved or was that an option for customers? Could they buy items without engraving on it?

Just send one email and if it isn't resolved when Etsy replies, resend the same email saying that you still need help.  Don't keep on opening new cases.

picking a birth month, and you slipping the item on a chain, is not handmade any more - which is what your listing says it is

and it's not personalised either

We do not pick birth month and slip on item..

We do not have any birthflowers ready to ship, each one is engraved according to customers request. So we do not only put birthstone and pendant on chain, we do engrave each item according to our customers request. Sometimes they want initials etc as well. We can also engrave annother flower if the customer want some other design.  It require additional workmanship but we have trained to do that. We also sent all the production videos to Etsy but no one responded us through Etsy Cases..

Where are you getting this information? The official legal policies state placing a charm on a chain is considered "hand assembled" which falls under "made by". It even specifically mentions adding a charm to a chain:

In my opinion, Etsy invited this vague interpetation of handmade and opened the floodgates to allow this ware from China to infiltrate and now they are trying to sort it out.

@BESTOFSEBASTIENS   Mass produced ware from China has already flooded Etsy.  Etsy is inundated with it.  These new rules distinguishing between handmade, hand designed, hand selected, etc is Etsy’s way of dealing with this problem.  It may be flawed but I welcome it. There is a big difference between the ceramic ornaments I make, for example and those that are POD (with pictures supposedly designed by the seller) or those that are premade bisque and the seller paints.

I’m not saying those items are bad, bit it is good for customers to know how they were produced.

Dear ZenCatPottery, I totally understand your concerns. I agree that Etsy has been a mess lately. It was fulled with dropshippers, resale items etc. But ours are not the case. 

When we check the policy we can identify ourself within these rules:

@Jewels2at   These new rules are vague and can be interpreted in a variety of ways.  That is the problem.

For example, the rule you highlighted in pink above could be interpreted the way the OP interpreted it, but is the end product unique?  I think opinions would differ on that.

Have you done reverse image searches?  One problem that other sellers whose shops have been shut down is that Chinese sites like Temu, Ali Babba, etc have stolen their photos (& in some cases the photos customers left in reviews).  The bots on Etsy often assume your item is not handmade if they find the exact image on another site. That might have happened to you.
