I have complained to the help center about this before, but for some reason every couple of months I lose my star seller rating because according to Etsy, I did not respond to my messages in a timely manner. However, when I go look in my messages I cannot find any messages that were not replied to within the 24 hour timeframe. This has happened to me several times and I am starting to feel like Etsy does this intentionally for some sort of algorithm purposes.
it always takes several months to get my star seller rating back, but it is only up for a few months before they take it back down. There is literally no explanation for this and if you speak to someone on the phone, they will just tell you they cannot change your rating so the whole thing is pointless.
Download a CSV file for your messages to see which ones you missed.
I downloaded my data and the messages all say yes I responded in 24 hours yet I do not have that star. On the star page in shop manager it says 100% were answered in 24 hours. I have automatic replies set to on.
@BrokenGhostClothing: Did you look at the CSV file from the 'Previous Review Period'? That contains the data which affected the April 1st badges and star.
The default view on the Customer Service page is the data for the May 1st badges and star.
Yes, the CSV will show you which you missed. If you also are a buyer, you have to respond to those too. The system will not differentiate between the two. And make sure you are marking spam messages as spam, not just ignoring them
First and foremost, you can not make someone write a review; that is impossible. Secondly, as a seller, you don't have a way to send the review request yourself. Yes, you can send your customer a note asking for them to do so, but there is no template for you to proactively send one yourself. And if there is please let me know where such a template lives. So, without having a way to send a customized template that relates back to their purchase, the review process is seriously flawed. And the star rating really doesn't mean much.
This has been happening to me as well. I've responded to all messages within just a few hours yet my badge was taken away. They have to fix this error going forward
I have the same issue and now that i've dedicated April to responding even faster, my rate went down 5%. Did you find a solution for this?
I wish that someone from Etsy would hop on here and clear this up for us. It sounds like a lot of people have issues. Etsy has to keep the buyers and sellers happy, because they both need each other to survive. There needs to be a balance between them, and Etsy also needs to listen to sellers about when the balance is off. eBay had the same problem a few years back, when buyers were the only people who mattered. A lot of sellers left the platform, so I’m hoping Etsy pays more attention to both parties.
Make sure nothing was automatically put in your spam folder. If a message from a customer went there automatically and you remove it from the spam folder too late to reply, then this will count against the star seller stats
