Ok, I'll explain - for example - for print on demand products we need to leave the SKUs blank because we constantly switch providers on out of stock items. We have automated queues with all the SKUs filled in on products that are always in stock and manual queues with blank SKUs for super trendy items that are constantly in short supply at printers. Such order then goes into on hold queue for manual review and processing and we assign printers that currently have a trendy t-shirt in even more trendy color in stock on daily basis.
If an Etsy bug like this - autofills all the SKUs, suddenly the queue goes into automatic production and everyone gets red t-shirt in size small regardless of what they actually ordered. The only way to stop is to process all the queues manually, which is insane task if your shop is busy.
But considering this bug has been reported in July, and I just came here to report it again in September, and additionally found another post regarding empty "SKU vary" status in the same menu not being saved from (oh my god!) April 2024 - it means all these bugs are well known, were already reported yonks ago, and n o b o d y at Etsy did a n y t h i n g to fix them. Yet these horrific (yet one would imagine basic) bugs on a busy day could completely break any clothing business - literally overnight.
