I had a few of 3-star but nice reviews recently. When I contacted one of the customers, they said they didn’t choose how many stars, just wrote the review. When she tried to change the rating, she wasn’t able to do that. No matter how many times she tried, the 3 stars remained unchanged.
Another customers never responded. Today I got another rave review with 3 stars.
I am starting to think that when a customer forgets to choose the stars, the review gets posted with 3 stars by default? That’s would be a major bug in the software.
I am thinking of buying something on Etsy just to test that.
I wonder if anybody can confirm or disprove that.
You do have to click on the stars to get the number you want, but I've never seen it default to 3 stars. (As a buyer)
On a browser, in order to proceed to the next step in the review process, a buyer has to select the # of stars. If they don't, they'll see ''Please give a star rating.'' before they're allowed to click 'next' and leave a comment. Maybe it's different when using the app?
This is terrible news if true. It would easily tank Star Seller!
My very first review last fall was a ONE star with no words. I was horrified, and immediately reached out to her to find out what the problem was, and what I could do.
She had rated all the areas at 5 stars, but overall the system had chosen a 1-star rating and she said it wouldn't let her change it. She was VERY happy with me and my item.
I contacted Etsy chat, which was NO help, other than to tell my buyer to edit her review. I didn't want to badger her about it, but was very unhappy to have my very first review be a ONE for no reason other than the Etsy glitch.
