Hi. I am trying to connect my domain name, which is on GoDaddy to my Etsy site. In order to do this, do I need to use Pattern?
If the answer is yes, do I need to do anything more than Create the A and CNAME items on GoDaddy, and give Pattern my domain name?
Currently I have all this done, but am getting a Security error when I try to go to the domain name.
Etsy support says to wait 48 hours, but I'm not really confident that waiting will fix the problem.
Thanks for any help.
You do not need to use pattern.
I use Godaddy, and simply have my domain forwarded to whatever site I want -- in your case, you'd set up domain forwarding to your Etsy shop.
Thanks for the reply. Did you need to add any A or CNAME items in GoDaddy? I did try doing what you say, and it worked on some computers but not on others. It continued to redirect to my old site rather than Etsy. I waited 3 days and it still went to my old site (on my computers and phone). I may go back to doing what you're describing.
No, I didn't add any of that -- I just click on "forward domain" and put the address there. I changed one about a month ago, and it worked almost immediately.
When I did this I contacted GoDaddy support who guided me through the steps
Did you have to use Pattern?
Or did you just have to forward your domain name to etsy/shop/YourShopName?
Did you have to use Pattern? I don't really want to pay the $15/month for Pattern just so I can use my domain name.
No you do not have to use Pattern to forward your domain. Contact godaddy support if you need help, they are usually pretty great with the support.
