Bit of a weird issue that I've started having over the past couple of days...
When I go to my Etsy dashboard (saved in my bookmarks bar) for the first time in a browsing session, it briefly loads, before suddenly redirecting me to what looks like a very obvious spam site. If I'm in there and click through to another link (Etsy help/Etsy Forum), it again briefly loads, but then redirects to the Etsy home page via a tracking link.
I'm a little bit concerned, this is happening even with an incognito browser/via a VPN/on a different computer. I've changed my DNS settings as well to see if it's a weird issue relating to that, but what worries me is that it's *AFTER* the initial Etsy page loads, and I then have to go back into it... The fact it's happening on multiple machines is really worrying.
Anyone else seen anything like this? Go into your dash, and choose Contact Us or Forums from the sidebar...
What do you mean by spam website? Is it a non-Etsy website made to look like Etsy or just a random website? You should probably be checking your computers for malware & such. Maybe you have browser redirect malware?
I have had issues with my VPN doing weird things too. I've gotten redirected to Google when visiting some websites with the VPN on. Did you test without the VPN on?
I have no issues clicking around on Etsy at the moment.
See below response - I'm 99% it's not malware, have tried with and without the VPN
I'm not seeing this issue. If you hadn't mentioned that it was happening on multiple devices I might have suggested it could be malware. I suggest you run a virus scan anyway just to make sure this is not the case.
What browser are you using and have you installed any extensions or plug-ins? (mini programs that run within the browser).
I would think multiple devices on a connected network could still be malware related?
I've got a pretty robust malware detection/prevention setup, run checks and all's good (IT sec by trade)... Malware was my first thought, followed by "Chrome Extension", but incognito windows disprove that... It's just weird. So unless some very specific malware has found its way onto the router itself I'm getting really confused...
One example of a page it takes me to is https://wowtravel.me/etsy-maternity-dresses/
I've tried it with and without a VPN, tinkered with DNS settings, it seems to be redirecting after the page loads for the first time and then doesn't do it again for the duration of my session.
This has been happening to me for over a week. Redirecting to Etsy shopping page though. Even while attempting to buy postage while completing an order. Usually, but not always, I use chrome back arrow to get back to my task. It sends me to https://www.etsy.com/?zanpid=10690_1719150914_5a85586cbb3a0e615c7d883c327ecce3&utm_medium=affiliate&...
It goes away when I turn off all my exensions and restart Chrome. Some of my extensions are necessary so I am just putting up with it and hoping for an update.
Yes, this is happening to me as well. I'm concerned it is some sort of malware or something.
I think It's either Chrome updates or a conflict with an extension. I turned off extensions and restarted, and had a temporary break. I'm using extensions and had a chrome update so its happening again. Still can't be sure which is causing it. Good Luck!
This issue just started for me in the last couple of days. Did anyone here figure out what the solution was?
I'm having this issue as well...very concerning
I am also having this issue. I've seen the url wowtravel.me. I've also had this issue on the Adobe. Both here and Adobe I'll load the page, then it'll just redirect to the home page. Maybe it's specifically a Google Chrome issue??
I switched from Chrome to Opera and have had no issues so seems to be Chrome specific.
Me too
I'm having this issue as well. Also in Google Chrome. Worrying to see this has been going on for a while and no resolution.
very interesting, noticed i had 500% increase in direct traffic today from that wow travel site—-i am not mentioned on their site so i don’t know
same issue
Same for me. When I click on my saved bookmark of Etsy Dashboard, I see it briefly, and then get redirected to Etsy Homepage. Started noticing a url that flashes between dashboard url and Etsy Homepage url but couldn't get a screenshot.
I googled the redirect issue and first listing was community.etsy with "Redirect in title". when I clicked on it to get to this thread IT WOULD NOT bring me to this page, kicked me back to Etsy Homepage.
In my case it was a Chrome extension. I turned off extensions and the problem went away, then turned them back on on at a time.
So after I posted that I was having the same issue this past Sat. I tried to post the actual URLs that I was being redirected to. I wasn't able to post AND then I could not get to this page until now. Incognito, Safari (that is all I tried) and the 3 - 4 urls keep me in a loop and then would kick me out to Google Search Page. Scanned for malware and viruses and no issues there.
I am going to turn off and remove all of my extensions and then restart to see what happens.
@thehalloweentree: Were you able to narrow it down to which extension is the offending one?
wowtravel.me is an affiliate link site, and there have been reports that the affiliate network they use (awin1.com) installs a browser extension that redirects your web browser to advertising or malicious websites.
I also have the same problem, add to that I am not familiar with the Forums so I posted yesterday about it, but your query is the closest thing I have come across to what is going on. Have you had any response as to why and when this will be fixed??
If you are using Chrome, try turning off all extensions. Then restart chrome. This worked for me.
