Most of my items are one of a kind, so the quantity is listed as one. Two hours ago, a buyer purchased nine items. Six of them said SOLD OUT. All good! But to my horror, the other three were relisted automatically. One of them had a quantity of two still available. I have now deactivated them so non-existent items aren't available. Am I going mad? Or is it a technical issue with quantities?
@LouiseFultonStudio - Possibly you made an error when doing the original listing & entered '3' available?
However, could this be an Etsy glitch? Yes, it could be. Many shop owners report that their listings suddenly auto-renew after the 4 month time frame. They never opted to keep the default automatic renewal & had chosen Manual. They now take to checking their listings weekly and bulk edit if needed.
Sadly, I am never surprised by the glitches that pop up. There have been other threads where buyers were able to purchase sold-out listings. At least you caught this one.
I'm sorry to say, this is almost always a Seller error. You can check, by going to the last time an item sold (on your Orders page) - that you believe was the last one - then look at that date on your Payment Account to find the sale. See if there is a 20 cent relist/renew fee - then you'll know the listing had a quantity greater than one.
That's scary! I make enough mistakes without something like that happening! Aaaaaack!
With all of the behind the scenes tech upgrades being done, normally the buggy and glitchy stuff gets worked out in a beta test. Not this time.
I have quantity problems quite a bit. Etsy denies that it happens, but I know, for a fact, it does happen. Just as an example, all of a sudden one of my listings will show 8 available, when there were previously only 3 in stock. This kind of thing has happened quite a bit over the last 7 months, or so. Nothing you can do except keep an eye on it.
