Hi, All,
I'm new to the party, verging on sale number four from the UK. I got this message from Etsy (SupportTEch):
>Hello! Your item has been paid for by a buyer, but we need to verify your account for security reasons before you can receive the funds. Orders on this account are currently suspended. To reactivate your store, please verify your Etsy account. Please type "QR" in this chat and we will send you a QR code with a link to the verification page<
I then got a pop-up message saying it was good to contact the seller ASAP, so this is what I sent back:
>Hi,
Thanks for your order -- I'll be able to process it, just have to do a quick verification (QR), and we should be good to go. Thanks again for your support! <
That confused me, because it seemed like I was replying to SupportTech, not the actual seller. Or was it the other way around?
I tried to go back and write again, but wasn't able to resend a reply (It said, "The username you entered is not a valid Etsy user"). How long will it take to get that needed link?
And how do I actually email support, without being bounced around the site, from topic to topic? And how do I find the Live Chat Option? I've searched and scrolled through the site, but don't see it anywhere.
I have had someone else ask me for my 'zine, so I don't want to see my momentum stifled, but I find the whole contact process here a bit convoluted. Suffice to say, any help and tips are greatly appreciated. Thanks!
Ralph (BudgieProductions)
SCAM!
You were not contacted by Etsy support. That was a scammer using the Etsy message system to contact you. Move those messages to the spam folder, and read up on common scams here on Etsy.
@BudgieProductions That is a scam. It is not how Etsy works. Spam the scam.
@BudgieProductions In your Shop Manager do you see "Help" > "Contact Us" ?
Yes, but the deal is -- as I'm sure you know -- you have to search whatever topic you're trying to find, which may or may not come up, and can take a fair bit of time to search. I went online and found some articles that suggested, you're supposed to see a button ("I still need help"), but I never did come across that. Once I get better acquainted, I'm sure these frustrations will lessen, but it's hard when you don't know what you're looking for. I just hope I don't encounter this again too soon!
You do not need to contact Etsy as the message you received came thru your messaging system NOT your dashboard notification--and is a SCAM. There is no need to reply . The reason you got the "invalid" notice is Etsy has already identified that account as a scammer and deleted the account.
Please do NOT give your financial information to a scammer!
it's a scammer, and etsy found out and deleted the user before you could do any damage.
do NOT give out e-mail
do NOT scan QR codes
no NOT click on any links.
If you go to you shop in a browser, and click "messages" from the dashboard,
If the message is not in the "From Etsy" folder on the left hand side, as well as the inbox, it's not From Etsy,
Mark it as spam from your inbox, and ignore
Thanks, everyone. I did check the message box, and it wasn't in the "From Etsy" column, so yeah, I see what's going on here.
Still, though, how do you access the chat function? I literally scoured all around the site, and haven't seen it -- then, at least, I could have resolved it that way.
don't use chat, they are only available USA working hours, and are outsourced
choose the e-mail option
You handled this in the best way you could- you came to the Forum. You will get answers quicker here than from Etsy. If something looks wrong - bring it here and you will get almost immediate help.
You do not not to verify or send any information when you get a real sale. It will be on your dashboard and you will have a notification with the #1 on your home page.
