I am trying to list a product by Magnolia Home and it won't let me list it without a "production partner". This is so stupid. Any remedies to fix this hiccup? I have listed a Magnolia Home product in the past and didn't have this frustration. It won't even let me save my listing as a draft after all this trouble. Yikes.
If that's the case, that's okay. I posted it on another site and I'll know to only do vintage on Etsy to avoid any problems.
@VintageSensations4U: Could it be because the system thinks that it is an item you are reselling?
I don't think so. The system seems to think it's handmade, which is silly, of course. I don't think Joanna Gaines sits around making this type of thing, LOL.
"The system seems to think it's handmade..."
Yeah that's the default when you select made by another company or person and then select a date less than 20 years ago for the when was it made question. It will default to 'handmade with production assistance' and require a production partner. If you didn't make it yourself, design it and are having made by a production partner based on your unique designs, isn't 20 years old or more or an art or craft supply then you can not sell it here.
That usually only happens when the date selected for "When was it made" is not 20+ years ago (making it vintage per etsy rules). What date range did you select for when it was made? If it's not 20+ years old you can't list it here.
of course, Etsy has a check-off for later items, too. I did not pass it off as vintage. I think I listed it as 2020-2023.
''I did not pass it off as vintage.''
That means you listed it as made by another company or person. By selecting a recent year, the Production Partner was now needed.
If it's not vintage, you cannot sell it on Etsy.
Is the item over 20 years old? Are you listing it as handmade or ''another company or person''?
I am not listing it as handmade, but as "another company or person" although the system seems to identify it as handmade.
and what did you select for the 'when was it made' bit?
If you list it as another company or person and a finished item Handmade with a production partner is the only option. It is for things like print on demand pillows or mugs with sellers own design/illustration graphics.
Magnolia Home is Joanna Gaines brand. So it's not vintage or handmade by you.
Yikes. Magnolia Home.
You listed the other one as “vintage.”
Handmade on Etsy means handmade by YOU or designed by YOU. Selling Magnolia Home items here is reselling. It has to be handmade or designed by YOU or over 20 years old ( vintage) or a supply that falls into one of the supply categories. Magnolia Home is not a production partner.
If that's the case, that's okay. I posted it on another site and I'll know to only do vintage on Etsy to avoid any problems.
Seriously? Magnolia Home was started in 2003, but not instantly popular, so what is the likelihood that your item qualifies as vintage?
You have 3 choices when listing: craft supply (which nothing from MH would be), vintage (unlikely), or handmade (which is when it asks for a production partner if you stated that the date is later than 2003).
I strongly suggest you forget about listing anything from MH
The Magnolia Market didn't open until 2015.
I never claimed it was vintage.
Sigh…….
Also sighing.
Resellers just won't give handmade and vintage shops a break.
and vintage = BEFORE 2004. Save books from 2004 until next year.
Thanks for all the responses. Since I am rather newer to Etsy, your answers were very helpful.
