Problems with the new listing form ( test from Etsy ? )

Jump to solution

Hi, for a while now Etsy tries to make me use their new listing form, with the option to switch the old one, I tried several times the new one, but I never have succeed because I always get stuck somewhere, the new form is really bad made, and there is no way, in case I make an error, to get out of it, other then to cancel the listing and start all over again with the old system, it took me a lot of time , I just tried to make a new listing again with the new system, because I did not have any sales since 3 weeks ( very very strange in Christmas season, it usually is one of the best seasons for selling ) , and I start to think that maybe Etsy is punishing me because I do not use their new listing form ? maybe a strange thought, but you never know , it might be a test from Etsy ?

I have tried the new listing form a few times, and run into issues like you descibe.  I will only use it for quick edits, until all the problems are fixed.  That half-baked page is punishment enough - I have not noticed any lack of sales because I don't use it.   I hope things pick up for you in the new year!

* I love your shop name!

Then switch to the old form until Etsy either fixes the new form or gets rid of the old form altogether.  I usually have a at least 100 new things to list before I start listing things and only use the old form for now because the new one freezes too often for me.  But freezing once would be too much as far as I'm concerned.  I'll learn to use the new form when I'm forced into it and not before.  Etsy has no way to know which form you used so there is no punishment for using either one.  Sales have been slow here for everybody this month and other sites aren't much better.  There really wasn't a Christmas rush this year.

No, using the new or old listing format has no affect on sales you may or may not make.

I ranted and raved about the new but Etsy has changed it so much that I now prefer it.  I never have a freeze issue.  I can do things so much faster than the old that I switch my old listings to the new when I edit them.

The Christmas rush happened in October/November.  Buyers are aware of shipping issues and are preferring to do online early and then go to the physical stores for the rest.

I love the new format after a rough start.  I prefer it now.

Etsy is not punishing you.

Sellers have noticed that this year Christmas is different.  Many buyers stopped purchasing in December opting for shopping in stores.

Thank you all for your answers, And yes , Sales in November have been very good, and Sales in December never have been worse .

It is good to know that it has nothing to do with a punishment from Etsy for not using the new form

Kind regards from France , and lets hope sales will be better in 2024 !

I detest the new listing form that Etsy is now forcing us to use. I tried it when it was optional, but I kept getting an error message in red at the bottom and was never able to save my changes. Now, I'm attempting to edit a custom listing for a buyer, and I want to use my images instead of the generic, ugly Etsy one. However, I can't do so because of persistent error messages.

I was able to fix the shipping errors and images, but the system would not register the category, which is "beads in jewelry making supplies." I found the correct category, but the system keeps showing that same red error message, despite the fact that I selected a category. I tried clearing my cache and cookies, logging out, and using two different browsers, but the issue persists. Because of this, I'm stuck using Etsy's unattractive icon for custom listings, which is incredibly frustrating.

Another frustrating issue is when I want to edit variations. Instead of allowing me to edit existing variations (for example, to correct a typo), I have to delete the variation, retype it, and then move it around to place it in the correct alphabetical order.

I've given my feedback before when Etsy requested it, but it seems to fall on deaf ears. The new listing form is not helpful and does NOT save time. Why do they do this? I'm sure I'm not the only one having issues. Instead of making the process smooth, it has become time-consuming and difficult. Etsy, read the room. Sellers are NOT happy!

@BijouterieSupplies: You may want to start a new thread about your issue as the Etsy moderators tend to close down old threads like this one.
