First off let me say it is pretty near impossible to report a situation directly to Etsy. The call/chat center is next to useless 99% of the time. However, that is not my issue.
My issue is that if you mistype a tracking number you get flagged for not having tracking info and there is no way to change it. I had a customer make 2 orders. In order to make things more efficient, I refunded one of his shipping charges and combined the order. When I typed the tracking number I accidently left out some numbers. That caused Etsy to flag the sale as No Tracking Info and hit my Star Seller.
I am honestly not worried about it, I have been a Star Seller every month since the program started. I currently have 98% on Shipping which is fine. My goal here is for Etsy to make it possible to correct tracking information when it is mistyped. Currently there is no way to do that. The person in the call/chat center could not understand that I was trying to report a bug / missing feature that needs attention.
I ask that someone please look into this issue and provide sellers a way to correct entered tracking numbers so that it does not look like we didn't have tracking information with it. Feel free to contact me here or via email if you would like any more information.
@EchoBaseVintage: "there is no way to change it" You have three days from the time you mark it as complete, look for the "How to edit the tracking number on an order" section on https://help.etsy.com/hc/en-us/articles/115015774228-How-to-Add-Tracking-and-Complete-an-Order-?segm...
@EchoBaseVintage I copy and paste the tracking number. Do you not have that ability to do so?
Copy and paste the tracking number into the second order. No need to type it in.
That is a viable work around but there still should be the ability to correct the tracking. You could potentially not copy the entire number. A simple solution would be to have a way to combine orders or correct mistakes.
Someone says you have 24 hours to correct it. I learned the hard way so now triple-check when I enter it.
An ability to change it at any time is begging for abuse.
@EchoBaseVintage You have 3 days to change/update/correct Tracking.
Though I agree that it could be misused, perhaps a way to combine orders would be a better solution. Or at least some kind of error if you do not enter the correct number of numbers.
Well, three days is great if you realize the error in that timeframe. However there was no indication that I had not entered the correct number of digits and I only found out that there was an issue when I looked at my Star Seller report and saw it had dropped from 99% to 98%. I had to look at all the completed orders before I found the error.
@EchoBaseVintage I suppose it is a bonus that we even have 3 days to correct issues, particularly if these are Seller generated.
It is not a bad idea to download the Shipping CSV each morning. I do this when checking for Orders and Messages. It takes no time at all and I can see if something does not "look right" and attend to rectification before the time-limit expires.
use Pirateship it integrates with Etsy, provides UPS and USPS shipping labels at a discount and has great customer support. They will also file damage claims for you and get your claim approved 99%+ of the time. Not associated with them, just a satisfied customer. THere are also other discounted shipping label companies. No need to manually type (dont you at least copy and paste??) in tracking numbers.
I use Etsy labels. This was a combined order and I mistyped it.

OP, go into the order with the wrong tracking number and add another package. Then type in the correct number. Give it a couple of hours and it should update to show tracking and delivery information. You can then advise Etsy your package did have tracking.
@TinLizziAntiques: I actually don't know what will happen if this is done after the scheduled ship by date, but might not Etsy see this as one package shipped on time with no tracking and one package shipped late with tracking?
OP, I have done this to fix a tracking number and it worked. Why not try it?
I had an issue where Etsy changed the carrier to FedEx instead of Auspost because I used a 'registered' mail tracking number which they didn't recognise. I didn't realise until I noticed it wasn't marked delivered when it had been. I contacted Etsy and they changed it once I uploaded proof of delivery. Not that it did anything for my SSP as it's a rarity that I use tracking. This might work for you.
When I use tracking, I always put the number into the AusPost tracking site first. When it comes up correctly, I copy/paste from that page to Etsy. That way I can be sure I'm putting in the right number.
