Problem with an order, variations in listing

I need help please. I listed an order- 1 Santa hat plus added variations to add an optional sewn on patch. 
insold the hat only yesterday but with the patches as variations the listing remained open. So I put 0 by rhe 3 patches variation and it wouldn’t let me delete variation. And, it wouldn’t show as sold out in my shop so I had to deactivate it. 
now the sale doesn’t show up and the order won’t go away even tho I shipped today. 
can anyone help me?

Did you click "quantities" vary when creating the variations? You should be able to mark one variation as zero stock, and it will be sold out, if you've set it up with varied quantities.

And how can the sale not show up but the order won't go away? If it won't go away, it must have shown up.  : )
That would be a separate issue than the variations problem.
