Hi Everyone, I've just received a note from a buyer saying that my goody has a certain value in Hungarian Forint (HUF) but I sell everything in GBP... and if I convert the HUF (the price she can actually see at her end) into GBP, it's so much less than what I want my goods to be sold for. How does it work?
I've set my shop to show GBP currency but she can see HUF as a local one...
Can anyone help? Thanks
Buyer sees price in whatever currency they have set.
you leave your currency the way it is. buyers anywhere in the world will see prices and buy in their currency.
@MotivumArt : Buyer always see your listing in the currency THEY selected regardless of the currency the item is listed at. When converting between currency, we cannot be sure which conversion rate Etsy is using. Don't know if it will be helpful, but there is more information on https://help.etsy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360000336747-How-to-List-Items-in-Your-Preferred-Currency?se...
The way it works,
You list in your currency,
the customer chooses the currency they want to buy in
etsy does the conversion for the buyer, the buyer pays the amount etsy tells them,
and you receive, the amount you listed in, in your currency.
.... not sure why the customer is contacting you - they see an amount, they buy, or not
what are they actually contacting you about?
Perhaps someone else will have more detailed information, but I think the difference is caused by the fact that the Buyer is in Hungary which, although part of the EU, does not have EURO as local currency which is supported byEtsy Payments. HUF is not on the list of "Currencies Supported for Etsy Payments"
"Buyers
Buyers viewing the site in one of these currencies can complete Etsy Payments orders in that currency. Item prices will be automatically converted based on current market rates.
Buyers viewing the site in one of our other supported browsing currencies will see the seller’s original listing currency when completing an order through Etsy Payments. Depending on their bank or credit card company, an international transaction fee may apply."
