I just set up my shop about a week ago. The potential buyer and I are members of a Facebook group pertaining to wreath making. She saw a wreath I had made and asked if I could make her one. I've made her wreath and put it in my Etsy shop with free shipping so she could purchase it. She said that she "can't open it or order it".
I am wondering if I've got my shop set up correctly. If maybe I've got a setting criss-crossed during the account set up process that has my items stuck in limbo so they can't be bought yet.
I don't think she's a scammer. She's been extremely patient so far and she hasn't asked me to sell the wreath using some other method.
Do you guys know of any account setting that I should check?
Hi, I have just checked your listings and can add them to the cart and payment options are active, so there should not be issues from your end.
Be careful, new shops are targeted. They will claim anything from "I can't buy" to "you need to verify your account"
Even on FB they are targeting sellers in different groups in case the seller does not fall for the scam messages via Etsy messenger.
Thank you so much. I really appreciate it.
Which wreath is it?
It's the pink one priced for $99
Seems to be working.
Is this person familiar with Etsy and how it works? Could it be she's trying to ''open it'' while she's on Facebook, not Etsy?
You do have one wreath that's in 1 cart. Do you know if that's her cart it's in? Maybe she's confused and thinks she can't purchase it because someone else is going to buy it.
Without knowing exactly what she's encountering, maybe sending her a direct link to that listing will help.
Maybe she's not in the US? She should still be able to open and view the listing though.
It's very possible that your shop is targeted by scammers since it is new and unfinished. If an order is legitimate, Etsy will approve it and send it to your shop for you to process. Otherwise, be very cautious. In the meantime, finish your shop or return to this Forum and ask for a critique. Best to you.
This is a very common occurrence for new shops. IT IS A SCAM. They will ask for your email - DO NOT fall for it. Contact Etsy, if it is a legit buyer, they will get it worked out to order on Etsy.

If you receive an actual order, you will see it in your "Orders and Shipping" section and you will receive an email from Etsy notifying you that you have a sale, and there will be a notification in your dashboard as well.
Thank you.
Saying she "can't open it" makes me think she hasn't made it to your shop yet. Maybe she's trying to click on a link which isn't valid.
