Potential High Value Order but "Member Does Not Exist"

Hi Everyone,

I am receiving and conversing with a potential buyer for a high value item order (upwards of USD3000), but when I click the profile, it shows the member does not exist. The buyer is saying that Etsy thinks their account was hacked so it was suspended and hence they are unable to place an order using that account. They even created a new account and placed an order, but that was cancelled again by Etsy and claim that even that account was suspended. They have sent me screenshots of Etsy emails stating their order was not placed.

I suspect that it is a scam but not sure how to confirm. Is there any other way I can confirm the buyer is genuinely unable to place the order and that their account is suspended? Can I attach screenshots sent by the buyer here?

They cannot place an order, so you cannot sell to them. Are they asking to take the sale off Etsy? You cannot do that, and their asking is a big red flag and very much could be a scam attempt. Do not help them try to bypass the fact that Etsy has suspended them. 

FYI: There is no seller protection on orders over $250.

The order did not go through, because either Etsy or their payment processor, thought there was an issue with it.

Leave it alone, don't go chasing people who have failed etsy's checks, they failed for a reason ,
and etsy won't tell you why, as it would break all privacy laws.

Etsy may have suspended them for a good reason, maybe like scamming buyers?
