Plaid glitch -Updated bank account and Etsy suspended my account resulting more issues

I'm going to try to stick to the facts and not derail on how upset I am or over the loss of money I am incurring right now. 
I recently moved across the country and since my bank I have used for forever is not local to my new state, I went and set up bank accounts locally to make things easier for me. On 8/17/2022 I logged into both of my Etsy shops and I initiated the change of my bank account. They now use Plaid and it was noted as a "test run" last I read. So I chose the manual option where they deposit two small deposits and pull it back out, you come back in a few days and verify the deposit amounts. I chose that option over the instant options because well, I don't really feel like handing over my bank login when asked. Call me stubborn or old school but that's my choice. 
I woke up on 8/18/2022 to emails from Etsy for both of my shops stating that I failed to come back and verify my bank account information within 30 days of initiating a change in account. Am I on glue? Less than 24 hrs does not equal 30 days. So I ask Etsy to call me. I spoke with two people that day. They confirmed it's a glitch on their side and said there's issues with plaid and the only way to rectify it is use the instant login option. Big sigh and frustration. I logged in and got verified and feel upset that Etsy is forcing me to do this and I don't want to. They lifted the suspension on my shops. They told me to wait a few hours and everything would be restored. 

I no longer had the suspension message and it says I am verified. But I see I am not able to purchase shipping labels for orders in my queue and all my listings are gone. I have no active listings on both shops. I have Etsy call me again, this is on 8/19/2022. I spoke with four people that day. One of them was able to give me back the option to purchase shipping labels on my shops. None of them could figure out the listings issues. On the phone app they don't show anywhere when you filter for all. On the PC, I found all the listings in "Inactive" with a bright red flag on all of them saying deactivated by Etsy. Every Etsy support agent I have spoke with has told me that it's stuck like that and it's not an issue with my listings at all, just something that happened from the accidental and unwarranted suspension. They told me that a special team would be looking into it on both shops and contact me via email and there is no ETA. I am now 3 days in to both shops being down. I have people messaging me like "where are your listings" and trying to purchase. 

I received an email from Etsy stating "Our decision to suspend your listings is final and may not be appealed". They are completely missing the point that this IS THEIR GLITCH and I didn't do anything besides be a responsible person and update my account. I don't know what to do from here as I am not getting any help after so many phone calls. I am losing income because of this. Everyone has been anti Etsy as a seller lately because of the price increase.  And I still stuck around. I have paid them $1,400 on one shop alone year to date and this is the service I receive. I am at this moment looking into a website and hiring someone because this is insane.  As a small shop owner, this really hurts me.

Judging from your reviews it seems everything you made was infringing on movies, tv shows, etc. If the other shop is anything like this one then like they said it may be a side effect of what happened but that side effect was likely your shop being looked into to make sure you are following policies and may still be under investigation which isn't a glitch, it's part of how they are dealing with listings that don't follow their policies. Getting a sale, renewing an item, getting a case against you, getting an infringement report, changing bank accounts, many of these things seem to trigger shops getting reviewed for potential policy violations.

I'd try listing stuff you come up with yourself instead of things that directly relate to popular shows and movies. I would consider this Etsy putting red flags all around my shop and I'm lucky to have a shop still and rather go through all this and start fresh on the right track than to have my accounts closed never able to sell here again.

I do get what you're saying. I listed the ST patches a while ago and only ran them for a week. I did get a notice from Etsy on one listing, I pulled all listings that could have been an issue at that time and that was a while ago. That was handled. Every other patch in my shop was not a character or anything else. You just can't see that, you're just looking at the reviews. 
But yeah, it's unfortunate that changing my bank account triggered this when that's the only warning I have ever had on my shop. I have a plush shop and I handcraft dragons and things and that one was also put into the same status when I changed my bank account. It's unfortunate.

Etsy seems to be having major problems verifying accounts, and changing passwords, it seems they have either untrained staff, or very serious technical problems, and many peoples shops are being affected - including my own, a few weeks ago.

however, the deactivation of listings is a separate issue, and you should, absolutely not re-list them anywhere, until things are sorted out with Etsy

there are threads here, which looks like Stranger Things, and the Hellfire Club, are being swept and pulled for IP infringement - amongst other things

In the meantime, please see my patches available in my partners shop

if you've put those patches in another shop, that shop can get shut down too, 

even if they didn't  infringe,

you can't sell the same things in 2 different shops

and

handmade items have to be made or designed by the shop owner, and they are made by you, not your partner

pull them from your partners shop asap, before that shop is damaged/closed too

I ran those ST patches for a short time, got slapped on the hand and pulled them and anything that would be considered infringement. You're just seeing past reviews and not what I was actually offering in my shop. That was my one and only notice from Etsy ever and I handled it. I have asked them multiple times if this is because of that notice which was some time ago and handled. They said that when my shop came back from suspension (which was their issues to begin with) that everything was "stuck" and it wasn't flagged for review. They had to manually add back options for me in the seller side. 

Thanks for your feedback. I am not selling anything in my shop currently and haven't since that one notice that would cause an issue. I realize this is happening because of the auto suspension but this is a glitch on Etsy so I sit and wait. They really don't seem to care. My other shop, my main income has never had any warnings or anything. I do not have anything listed there that would cause any issues and that shop is same status after changing my bank account and having the glitch.

And my main shop is now back to normal right after I replied to this. So at least that's taken care of. Sigh.

You can sell the same item in two shops as long as you have 2 of the same item. You can not list one item in two shops and then pull the listing from the second shop if that one item sells.

@NymphAdorableDesigns - The Plaid issue has been mentioned in a number of threads. The best you can do is either reply to Etsy's most recent email that your issue is not resolved or start a new help request. State just the facts, your move, using Plaid - the first time & then being directed to the "instant verification" process, the listings being deactivated, etc. You can mention your previous calls with Etsy and that support said it was a technical issue.

I don't know if you should do one for your plush store & then one for store I see here with patches. If Etsy replies with a generic email, respond to that email, that your issue is not resolved. Opening new tickets only puts you to the end of the line. Then you will need to have the patience of a saint since Etsy's customer service to shop owners is backlogged. 

Finally, while you're waiting on Etsy do finish setting up your shop - add shop policies. This is very important, especially if a shop owner should need to use Etsy's seller protections for any reason:

Thank you, that's helpful.  I had been searching for Plaid glitches before I posted, I didn't see my particular situation but Etsy did say there's a lot of issues when I spoke with a rep.

@NymphAdorableDesigns  :  We sympathize with your situation. I think that too often people no longer seriously consider account security. I agree with you that handing over login details to a third party just does not seem like a good idea. do we trust them that if they are hacked your bank account details will not be available? (When you get this all resolved you might want to change your bank login info with your bank.) I don't think that your thinking is "stubborn or old school", rather it is sensible. It is like this obsession to make everything a mobile app. Steal my phone and all you will get is my contact list and some texts - no bank logins, no social media logins, nothing. If we absolutely have to use a mobile app we use an emulator on a desktop computer.

Thank you , I very much appreciate it.  The person I spoke to on the phone with Etsy couldn't understand why I wouldn't do my login to begin with. It was making me feel like I was the only one that doesn't like that.

Etsy did bring my plush shop (my other shop) up back to normal about 20 mins ago. Which is a big relief. Still working on a website though.

@NymphAdorableDesigns: Perhaps you should have asked the rep to give YOU their legal name, social security number, bank details and bank login and password with the promise you would only use them for good. Then maybe they would understand.

there isn't a phone number,

sometime, on certain topics, and at certain times of day, you can get the option of a callback through - community and help - contact us

but they are not etsy employees, they are outsourced, and have scripts to read from, and are often more trouble than they are worth

There are lots of sellers who have already stated that being forced to give out their banking passwords would be the last straw here, so you are not alone. So the fact that Etsy told you that's the only way to change banks could become a big problem for many.

It's a terribly frustrating position to be in when you're promised contact from a special department, who you can't contact directly, and who you may never hear from.

I'm glad to hear that one of your shops is now back to normal.

I cannot change my bank account! My dashboard only allows for updating my current account with PLAID. I've already done that, but I need to change my bank. It has been over a week, Etsy support asks for a ton of information to be sure I am the holder of the account, I gave all of that info, but it has been a week and no response or action on my problem

I am having an issue with my shop on vacation mode, all my kistings are set to manual yet Etsy keeps renewing all my listings, leading to my shop failing to pay fees and recently realized my shop had been suspended. I don't know if this is related to your glitch or not, but I'm waiting on an email from Tech to hopefully sort this out. They don't know why the system keeps autorenewing even when the kistings themselves keep showing Dec 3rd expiration date

I need to change my bank act. I kept an old one in last state I lived in, and they decided to change everyones account #'s when they upgraded their system. I have until next spring to fix it. I am just afraid after reading this I will get suspended right when things pick up, so think I will wait till Jan. Call me paranoid.

I understand how angry you are, so am I. I too have been unable to update my bank account and I do not want to give my personal information to any random "third party vendor" as Plaid. This is bull ssh it /  What amazes me is that you actually contacted etsy via phone?? Whhaaattt??  PLEASE GIVE ME THEIR PHONE NUMBER.  Never ever have I been able to contact anyone via email or telephone since etsy has NON existant customer service, at least no info on the website at all.  You must have magic to have been able to talk to a human being that actually works at etsy!! WOW, or maybe it was a robot  lol

Third parties already process your bank deposits from Etsy, as they do on most platforms, Etsy uses worldpay, stichting custodia, ayden etc.

They also use Plaid for verification, if you choose the manual method, you are only giving the same information as all the other third party payment processors have

If you go through community and help - contact us, keep going until you get to "I still need help"

most of the time it's just e-mail, sometimes there is a chat or call back function, but you can't call etsy - if you google and find a number, it's a scam, don't do that.
Also, chat and phone are outsourced, they are not actual etsy employees

no problem selling on etsy untill plaid came on the scene they entered the small deposit in my bank when i verified plaid says did not match the account they have on file have had the same bank account for 12 years no help from etsy or Plaid am at a loss of what to do  DHENTERPRIS
