Personalization getting cut off after one word (again)

So, this started back in August and is still happening. I think I've had about 5 orders in the past few weeks with one word. I get many one word orders too that are supposed to be that way so I don't question these. However, now I'm getting bad reviews due to making what is ordered "as ordered". I'm going to continue to point customers to Etsy that have this happen. They should not have to pay for a new item and the shop should not have to make a new one for free. I can't afford it when the shop is 75% down right now. Etsy please fix this or identify if it is a specific app version. We can't keep going on like this. It isn't fun being yelled at by wedding partied for things out of our control.

Had it happen once back in August in my other shop and  wondered if it was an Etsy bug or buyer fault. 
I always send a photo to the buyer before shipping and luckily she was very quick in her reply and caught the error but then I had to go round and round with her & customer service whom I contacted to ask if the buyer had entered more text or not.  Customer service looked at the buyer's order and said she only entered one word, not more.  Buyer swore she entered more.  Neither of us could prove it though so buyer &  I agreed to remake the sign for half price.  Overall not a great experience for me or this customer.

Now that you're saying it's happened a few times just in the past week, I'm very concerned about this happening more often.  I send mock ups to buyers if their order value is at 60€ or more but I don't have the time to send mock ups for EVERY order just in case there's a bug!!  I guess I'll just have to be more on the look out for anything that strikes me as not quite right.

I am worried by this - does anyone know whether it's a problem specific to the app? So far I don't think I've had this happen but thanks for the heads-up, I'll be on the lookout going forward. It's a monumental waste of time having to contact the customer and as my stuff is all hand stamped I can't exactly send a proof!

How many characters is your personalization box set to?

I don't know about the OP but when it happened to me, the personalization box was set up for 30 characters.

There were only 4 characters (the buyer's name) typed into the box.  The buyer told me she typed in her name + partner's name + a date.  All well within the character limit.

I posted in the other thread that I received a personalization order last night with no issues. Mine is set to the max number of characters, 1024.

We've had this happen 5 confirmed times in the past month. One thing they all had in common was that the customer wanted the "&" symbol in their personalization but it did not come through. For example they typed "Albert & Becky" but only "Albert" came through. I'm curious if others have noticed it happens with that symbol as well.

I had it happen with & as well, same as you. Only the word before the & came thru, the rest of the text did not.

I know this is an old thread, but YES THIS HAPPENS ALL THE TIME to me too! And usually if it's two names with an "&". They tell me they entered it all in, but only the first name shows up... it happens other times but almost always with the &.  BUT other times, it comes through just fine when they include that 'and' symbol Sometimes I wonder if people are hitting enter too soon. But they always say they entered it all in...

I just had another two orders with the personalization cut off after one word. Admin, since this seems like a common problem I am going to continue to suggest that talk to Etsy and hopefully Etsy will pay for their replacement item since this is a technical issue.

Since the ampersand character is often used as a "special" character in HTML it is very possible that the verification script running against the input is incorrectly coded.

I had an order this week and only one word was left for personalization, I reached out and the buyer said "I thought I left all the details" now I'm thinking this is what happened.

I just had another one happen. I wonder what the reason is this is happening for some but not all orders? This is NOT related to a special character because 90% have "&" in the receipt. I'm wondering if it was an older app that wasn't updated? Whatever it is, the bug needs to be fixed.

Anybody ever hear any resolution on this issue?  This (personalization details cut-off) has happened a half dozen times in the last 60 days. Like some of the replies above, I agree it may have something to do with the ampersand. Bump.
