Let me start this by saying that I have been on Etsy since 2009. Of those 13 years, this one has been by far the worst. You'd think it would get better and easier, right? I like to keep things between me, my customers, and Etsy support, but the lack of support in the last few months has been appalling. My understanding was that raising seller fees was supposed to sure up better help for sellers, but the support has gone way down hill.
Today I was about to work on an order. I like to go through the convos about large orders before I work on them. When I sat down to do that, I discovered the order had been canceled. I searched through my conversations with the buyer, my emails, my social media dm's, etc. and found NOTHING from the buyer saying she wanted to cancel. I found NO emails from Etsy indicating that the order had been canceled and they were processing the refund. NOTHING! I searched for well over an hour. The only thing I could find was in my monthly statement where Etsy had taken the funds out of my account. There was no notification to me why this had been done. There's no communication between me and the customer canceling the order. What is going on? Support chat was zero help. As usual, they just pass it along to another team and claim they will email me back.
On Monday I got an email saying Etsy had deleted one my listings, but they didn't say why. They claimed someone would contact me about that. Nope....still haven't. I had customers waiting to order that item and I'm sure they've moved on to something else. I have no clue why they removed the item. I wanted to make it right so I could relist it. I've had several people look at the photos and the listing and we can't come up with a reason.
About 18 days ago, I contacted Etsy because I was getting a warning every time I went to save a listing that I hadn't filled out all the info, but I couldn't figure out what info was missing. When I push publish a 2nd time it works. Still haven't heard back. I sent them a photo of the problem. Nothing.
Whenever you chat with support it's the same thing. They send links to the Etsy seller handbook (yeah, I know all of that) and won't give any specific help. It's a waste of time. And now I have very little faith that anyone will ever contact me about the problems I've been having the last couple months. What on earth is going on? Like I've mentioned, I've been on hear for 13 years. I have never had so many issues with Etsy. I would love to work more out of my own website, but I am well established here and working on my own website without proper training is intimidating. So I guess I'll keep forking over my money to Etsy even though they don't give a crap about me.
Am I the only long time seller that's experiencing more problems recently?

Do you ever read the forum? : )
Just a couple of things:
Sometimes the error when publishing is the date, so check that field when it's saying information isn't filled out. Copying listings sometimes causes that field to be blank.
There are plenty of tutorials for whichever website host you choose. It does take a long time to set one up, but you can do it if you take one step at a time.
haha no, I don't get on the forum much anymore because my work time is very limited (I try to only work while my son is in school) so I try to just stay focused on getting orders out in a timely fashion.
I guess by this you are saying there's a lot of unrest

As you can see, I definitely don't know how to use the forum! I didn't know how to reply to a comment lol
Sometimes the cancellation is because payment didn't go through. For privacy reasons, etsy won't tell you why.
Your cancellation could have been fraud and rather than ask you to cancel, the buyer went straight to their CC company and did a chargeback. Again, for privacy reasons, etsy won't tell you what happened or why.
That's not excusing etsy's poor customer service. It's also important to bear in mind that the help center is outsourced (not etsy employees) which is why you so often get a response that is just links to help articles.
The frustrating thing is that Etsy should have sent me an email simply stating they canceled the order. I had no clue. I had already ordered the blank items to be stitched out so now I am basically out of my money. There's no email from Etsy saying they canceled the order whatsoever. I don't need to know why, I just need to know I don't have to order supplies or put time into digitizing the design for the buyer. I wasted hours and money on this.
I've been on etsy for a long time and do very well. I sort of have a love hate relationship LOL.
The things that etsy can offer me in my opinion are very valuable and I actually prefer them to the other venues that I sell on. There are many many many good things about etsy.
with that said, their chat support is TERRIBLE. It's like they just found someone walking down the street and said hey we need you to chat with this person. It's useless and unhelpful. Pretty much every issue I have had etsy has blamed me (including when all my listings were randomly showing as $1). I do my best to figure out things on my own and avoid dealing with etsy.
As far as the listing issue. Happens to me all the time and I just push publish again and it goes through so that is sort of a non issue since ultimately it works, just not the first time. Have no clue why it does that but I've never bothered to care since my listing gets published.
I've come to the conclusion that running a business isn't going to get "easier" but maybe better since I am constantly learning. Things change so much so I have no true expectation of it ever being easy.
Also if you really want your head to explode with frustration try selling on Amazon and have them fill orders through FBA. You will think etsy is the greatest venue ever HAHAHA.
Yes, the chat is a complete joke. Twice they have just cut me off and ended the chat. I think it was because they had no clue how to help me.
