On-time shipping and tracking is wrong

Hello,

I did put a tracking number and shipped on time every single order I had, yet the star seller progress shows 44%, which is incorrect. I'd like to ask for help, this must be a wrong calculation. Thank you.

Re: On-time shipping and tracking is wrong

Not all carriers have numbers that will sync with Etsy.  Etsy must be able to see the progress of the shipment behind the number or it doesn't count as tracked shipping.

But why half of them counts and half ot them aren't? I use the Hungarian Post for shipping. So sometimes Etsy sees it, sometimes it doesn't? Idk where could i get help from Etsy. Like i want to talk to the official customer service or something. It's nice to have other sellers help me and share their experiences, but Etsy need to solve this problem.

Re: On-time shipping and tracking is wrong

@Warchiefs: Have you checked the applicable CSV file to see exactly what Etsy thinks is "wrong" and on which orders?

Re: On-time shipping and tracking is wrong

I do the shipping for my daughter's store and religiously key in the tracking information for every package. I make a copy of the package label and that  gets put into a folder. When the packages are dropped off at the USPS I insist on getting a receipt and double check to make sure the numbers match  what has been placed in the folder. Then I enter the tracking number. (This ensure that I don't key the wrong tracking for the wrong package as I did that once.)  THIS morning though, I checked my daughter's dashboard and it said I was at 92% on shipping. Why you might ask? Yesterday's package is listed as not having tracking! This despite the fact that I can see the tracking as correct through the link in the store, the USPS website,  and with external applications like Deliveries.     In fairness, I couldn't track the package from USPS last night because it seemed the all of USPS was returning "Nontrackable from this web site". Overnight the USPS fixed their servers and the correct information is  there. The damage seems to be done though as once it's in the dashboard it doesn't ever change.  The last time we had a problem with a package having a badly typed tracking number because I transposed 2 digits. Etsy didn't fix it even though I repaired the tracking number.  We contacted customer support, emails went back and forth and ultimately Etsy did nothing.   -D Kuchta

Re: On-time shipping and tracking is wrong

@SabrinaKuchtaDesigns   Wait 24 hours or so and it will update.  For USPS items have to be in transit and if you shipped on Saturday there can be a delay in scanning.

Why doesn't your daughter use Etsy labels or Pirateship?  This way the tracking number is automatically entered.  It is far more efficient than filling in.

Also I use the kiosk my post office has to get my item the first scan.  That helps.  If your post office has one I suggest using it.

You have 3 days to fix a tracking number and the program will update.  If it was outside the 3 days it won't.

Re: On-time shipping and tracking is wrong

I even checked the post's page and all tracking numbers work. (Not USPS, I'm from Hungary, so I use the Hungarian post for tracking, but it always works.)

Re: On-time shipping and tracking is wrong

Thanks, we have used pirate ship for a long time.  Is there a way to link pirate ship label purchases to the store? (We've never clicked on the "buy a shipping label" button in the store manager because we buy from the pirate ship site directly.) -D. Kuchta

Re: On-time shipping and tracking is wrong

@SabrinaKuchtaDesigns- yes pirate ship directly integrates with etsy, which is great because you can see all your in progress orders right from the pirate ship front page (click on ship and then etsy import).

also it automatically fills in the tracking number and "completes" the order at etsy once you print. from the pirate ship pages you can "import orders from etsy" and then directly integrate it, it will bring you to a page to authorize connecting etsy.

sometimes i like to see the pictures and the format from etsy orders is somehow a little easier to read, so I go back and forth with both pages open to best see what i am packing up, pirate ship just has all the words, although that is enough, but i find the visual helpful.

the only thing it doesnt show is if someone choose upgraded shipping or what they chose for shipping options, another reason to go back and forth between the pirate ship page and etsy.

Re: On-time shipping and tracking is wrong

i get this too all the time, the shipping stats are wrong, 10-20% of the time it says no tracking or shipped late even though there's tracking and it was shipped on time. etsys system does not accurately track the stats on shipped on time. I am in the US and use common mailing ways, and it still messes it up often.

Re: On-time shipping and tracking is wrong

Are you printing your labels and uploading tracking before midnight on the day your required to ship.

If not this can potentially count against you with on-time shipping.

We seem to be lucky here in the USA. As long as we print the labels BEFORE midnight on the last processing day then it will count as "on-time" shipping. This seems to be the case even if it really takes you a day or two longer to physically make the drop.

You could try playing around with the tracking number format. For instance, lets say the tracking number is:  HG 126 343 234 US maybe try to input it without spaces (so HG126343234US) on Etsy. Also always make sure that you are putting the correct courier service that your using.

You could try to order your postage from a 3rd party site or Another option would be to us a 3rd party carrier (maybe FedEx, UPS).

From what I can tell, international shipping (besides the USA) can be real finicky with etsy.
