Old Star Rating Still Showing?

I'm confused about the star ranking (12 month period) and star seller status (every 3 months).  When you go to put one of my items into your cart at the bottom it shows all the stars I have received since opening (approx. 6 months). I thought old poor review stars would drop off after the 3 month period? Can these only go away after a year?

Your shop page review stars are calculated on reviews received in the last 365 days.  Reviews remain in your review list forever so buyers can view them if they want to go back further than that, but the points score is only counted for the previous 365 days.

Your Star Seller review count is based on reviews received during the previous 3 months.

I'm confused by your question. 

You state that you understand your shop's review is based on the last 12 months, and that the Star Seller is based on the last 3 months. So what are you asking about reviews dropping off? Reviews only drop off the SS metrics after 3 months, but as you know that is different than your shop's overall rating, and your shop's overall rating is what is going to show to the customers when buying from you. The 3 month SS rating is only going to show in your shop if you have it or not, that 3 month rating isn't applicable to any other spot in your shop.

Thanks for the responses. I'm sorry for the confusion, it's difficult to explain partly because I'm still learning.

I have looked at similar shops who I know have recieved lower than 5 star reviews in the last year. When you see their review star status at the bottom of the page for an item (where it shows the percentages for each star, not the average at the top near their name) some of those reviews have dropped off (now only showing their 5 star percentage).

I have recieved a 4 star five months ago but it still shows. I'm not sure why mine shows all review stars ever given and another shop's doesn't? 

(So my shop shows 94% for 5 star, 3% for a recent low star and 3% for a 4 star from 5 months ago)

This only concerns me as its calculating my rate close to dropping from star seller status, which I'd like to keep. 

The other shop does more sales and has more reviews so I'm curious if that plays a roll?

@EVERYDAY2NDCHANCES: The reviews rating is simple math - number of stars divided by number of reviews during the applicable time period.

"I have recieved a 4 star five months ago but it still shows." Do you mean that the review itself shows or that it is being used in the calculation? You can see how the current period reviews are being calculated for the December star by clicking on the reviews card on your Star Seller page.
