Hi all, I am a new seller and buyers are getting this error when they try to complete the checkout process. As soon as they hit the submit order button they get the “Oh Dear Message. I have not had one sale yet because of this.. people are trying to purchase but it won’t let them. They are messaging me saying hi I would like to purchase this but it’s not working.
I had my friend try to purchase an item from my shop and he got the same message.
I contact Etsy support and we continue to go in circles. They say everything is fine. It’s not fine. No one can buy anything….
Anyone have a resolution to this?
Please help Thank you.
I put one of your items in my cart and when I went to pay it said "Pay With Paypal" as default instead of Etsy Payments which it looks like you have. Not sure why it's defaulting to Paypal when it should be Etsy Payments. Etsy sellers cannot accept Paypal directly - as Etsy accepts Paypal for us. I didn't go any further than that.
@mommawhazelsquilts That's strange. I put one in my cart and had the option for Etsy payments
@Former_Member - I carted one of your items & could have checked out no problem with either a credit card or PayPal.
Are the people having problems using the Etsy app? I'm not an app user but have seen mentions of problems if the app isn't the newest available, etc.
Also, are they just trying to click on Buy it Now & not selecting the size they want? Though if that's what they're doing, the need for them to select a size should get highlighted & the red alert shows pick a size. But again, what I see on my laptop/browser & what app users see may be different.
Thank you for looking at my post. The issue occurs when the final button is pushed for the sale.
There is no problem adding it the cart and selecting the method of payment. The error I’m getting is when the customer pushes the final button on the order screen. then it comes back with the Oh dear something went wrong error and try again.
this happens with all credit cards,Apple Pay and PayPal.
So it won’t let me sell anything.
Thinking on the negative side, do read this just in case:

It is possible some of the folks having problems are scammers. Let's hope not.
As for your friend not being able to check out, they weren't using any of your devices &/or ISP, home wifi were they? Etsy wouldn't allow that since they'd see at as you trying to buy from yourself.
The only other thing I can suggest is open a help ticket with Etsy. Or continue with a help ticket you have already opened. Attach/cut and paste some of the messages you have received from potential buyers & say you need to have the issue fixed. If all you receive is a generic reply, respond to it, that your issue is not resolved.
Hello, my friend is in a different state. There are a few buyers that are also messaging me that they can not complete the purchase. This bothers me the most as I am a new seller and no one can purchase anything, I have already offered them a discount code to use when this finally gets figured out to hopefully retain their business. I have been upfront with them letting them know that I’m working on finding a resolution. All are happy for the communication from me.
I will keep emailing Etsy but they are really no help. They keep telling me my account is fine and my bank information is indeed verified. I’m very frustrated to say the least.
Thank you for taking the time to respond.
Welp I decided to close the shop and start a new one. Just added a 1 after my original shop name. This time the process went smooth as silk and I had my first sale last night. I knew it wasn't on my end. But all Etsy support kept saying was that everything was fine.
I was really hoping that Etsy support would figure it out. But they did not. I’m more upset that there were multiple items from my shop in peoples carts. I am hopeful that those people will find me again.
I’m up and running now. Thanks for your reply.
