Hello everybody
I'm starting to get extremely confused about Etsys fees. I have a vintage shop and just looked at the new tab "Earnings" from a recent order. First of all, there are so many fees, it's really hard to keep track. But the problem I have with this specific order is that Etsy deducted 22.28€ for an order of € 148.50 (15%) for marketing costs/offside ads.
Now, I understand that you have to pay this fee if somebody buys your product by clicking on an offsite add. What is strange is that it's impossible that this buyer has clicked on the add with this specific price (148.50 €) since this was a custom listing I sent him after he wrote to me.
So to sum up: Etsy advertised my product for one piece, the buyer bought 6 pieces and they charged the fee on the entire order.
Can anybody explain this? Is this legit? Can I reach out to Etsy somehow?
If someone clicks on an Off-site Ad, anything they buy from your shop for the next 30 days is charged the Offsite Ad fee.
It does not just apply to the item they originally clicked on to get to your shop
As you are charged 15%, you can opt out of Offsite Ads if you wish.
If they previously clicked on an ad link then the cookies are valid for 30 days, so any future purchases within that 30 days will be subject to OSA fees.
It works the way etsy has done it. It is the correct fee
If anyone clicks on any ad for your shop
everything that person buys in the next 30 days is charged the ad fee. the fee is on what they bought, not what they clicked on.
Offsite adds is pay per sale of goods, not pay per click on item
If you go to stats, offsite ad stats
The left hand item is what they clicked on, when, and what platform, and the right hand column is what they bought, the fee is on what they bought.
Creating custom listings or even giving someone a discount upfront is very tricky when you are listed for Etsy offsite ads, that's the sad reality of it.
