Just noticed the banner about the Returns & exchanges update from October, thought I would just go ahead and click accept.
Big mistake!
Now when I click on any one of my listings nothing appears, Thanks Etsy!
Why did they need to do this in the first place? are their efforts not better spent on making does who refuse to have legal policies listed rather than rolling out updates which are obviously not tested?
I get the same thing clicking on any of your listings.
can you try again @NanaLetha should be back now
Not going to believe this, I finally had access to Etsy Chat
Anyway, seems there is a delay when you press accept to update on the link in the return policy banner, should last no longer than about 15 min, then your listings become available again
It appears fine to me. Sometimes things just take time to register. And if using Firefox or Safai which doesn't always work well with Etsy, it might take a few minutes.
I hope you read the information about the change.
it is all back to normal now, I use chrome but tried different browsers but was getting the same
All ok now.
@CryzalisDesigns
I don't see a return policy on your home page.
I see this return policy on the listings I looked
Return & exchange window
21 days
Under EU rules, a trader must repair, replace, reduce the price or give you a refund if goods you bought turn out to be faulty or do not look or work as advertised.
If you bought a product or a service online or outside of a shop (by telephone, mail order, from a door-to-door salesperson), you also have the right to cancel and return your order within 14 days, for any reason and without a justification.
@vintageNCtreasures yes it is under each listings, 21 days from the delivery date to dispatch item back to seller
So assume this will be from the dat which shows delivered on Tracking
I know I've read on these forums for UK/EU sellers that you had to give a buyer 14 days to contact you and another 14 days to return, total of 28 days and since 28 days wasn't an option, sellers had to put the buyer had 30 days to return the item.
I see this if I click on the ?
"You have 21 days from item delivery to ship this item back to the seller".
Plus I don't see anything about who pays the return shipping or that the item has to be returned in the original condition.
IMO, it's just not that clear now on several things.
Not sure what benefit this has, is it not easier for someone who is purchasing from your shop to be able to see your policies straight away?, rather than have them look for them?
I have it on my product listings and on the Create New Policy screen it says:
Returns 30 days (what I had previously)
I don't see anywhere to type something specific. The only thing I can change is the number of days to return, which gives several choices ranging from 7 to 90 days, Returns Yes or No, and Exchanges Yes or No.
On some of my products that can be returned now, it now says they can't be returned, but they say they have used my previous settings (not true). So I guess I will have to go through 1200+ products and check each one. What a pain!
Well I better check mine because all that information was there before
@AAANativeArts are you seeing
on your new policies in the shop, I can't find them mentioned anywhere except in my dashboard, EU law states customers have to be made aware of this before purchase or it does not count
Same with mine. It's all messed up. I have to go through all of my listings as well.
@vintageNCtreasures I tend to get my information regarding selling in Europe direct from a official EU website, so that I know I am doing it correctly
As for the information about customers pays for returns, this is also and always been listed in my policies as this is also required by the EU and is still there in my dashboard, so I am not sure why it is not showing up on my pages.
If this will be added to the product description, buyer will know this before purchasing.
@FabioMcMustache can you please contact someone regarding this?
If the correct policies are not being displayed on our listings then they are not EU legal as they are not fully informing the customer before purchase.
I am not sure, but will of course look into this, that this information should be easy to find for customers, so why make it harder?
Anyone: What's selling on Etsy like?
Literally any seller anytime ever: They just changed something for no reason so now everything's broken.
in my dashboard
Please just one moderator out there explain to me where this information is displayed to the customer as it claims in the dashboard.
never mind, it has just appeared.
so basically the customer does not get this information freely listed in clear view now, they have to hover their curser over the returns section to see a quick pop up with the information.
Surely it was much better before?, all your policies were easy to find for your customers and clearly listed on your homepage for all to see?
I really do not understand why this had to change? why not just send a mass mail out to everyone to have legal policies in place or bugger off to Amazon handmade? oh wait they would not allow sellers to get away with not displaying policies
I am just worried that if they do not hover with their cursor over the returns part, then they will never know the full information stated in the returns policy, I am not sure that the EU would not accept this so will need to find out about this.
Either way I am very uncomfortable with information not being displayed properly and in an easy way for the customer, it is like it is there but you have to find it, almost as if Etsy is trying to hide it
