I have gift certificates that I mail from my shop. How do I show that they have been mailed ? ( it won't let me show order complete ) thank You !
@HousePortraits: As @NanaLetha points out, your gift certificates are at best problematic on Etsy. But you seem to be listing them as a 'physical' item so that means you must send the buyer something with verifiable tracking (at your price point). You complete them like any other physical order https://help.etsy.com/hc/en-us/articles/115015774228-How-to-Add-Tracking-and-Complete-an-Order?segme...
You click that circle arrow thing on the order..by the mail truck icon etc. If you're mailing with a stamp there's no tracking and it will impact your shipped with tracking stats. You can get a fc letter rate label via Etsy labels. Enter the fc letter envelope size and the max thickness is .25 and I think max weight is 3.5oz (?)
If you are talking about a digital item, the order should be automatically marked complete once the payment clears, no shipping info is required.
However, it is worth noting that Etsy doesn't allow individual shops to sell their own gift certificates. Etsy have their own gift cards which buyers can use in any shop on Etsy. They don't want buyers being disappointed when they find they can only use your certificate in your shop.
# Sorry my post above was in response to the OP but somehow indented under the reply below it.
Everything mailed out has to go through Etsy shipping area. Do you use Etsy labels for letter/flats? If you use stamps you can mark the order complete but it won't have tracking.
Ah this is a download? The buyer would purchase and it would be marked complete. Do you do the item on Etsy or is this shipped outside of Etsy? You would have to have a listing or custom order with a cost that you would mark complete with tracking if mailed. Not sure about made to order downloads.
Is the buyer submitting the house to give as a gift? Or is the buyer giving the certificate to someone and they fill out the form? Not sure if this is workable.
Frankly I think I better stop as it is a bit too confusing.
Yes the buyer is purchasing the "gift certificate" that I mail to her so she can give it to her recipient. The buyer pays me the full cost of the house portrait commission and it goes through Etsy like a regular commission.
When the actual artwork(my original artwork) is completed it would be shipped using Etsy shipping labels etc. As far as the physical gift certificate I mail it just like regular mail with one stamp. So i guess I can't say the order is complete until the artwork itself is shipped........but that could be done at any time way over the "ship by date"........I am just mostly worried that it looks like I'm not shipping my order in the designated timeframe and it looks bad for my shop !
Thank you for your help !!
Shop specific gift certificates are not allowed on Etsy. Read number 8: https://www.etsy.com/legal/gift-cards/?ref=list
