OLD Price on copied listing “sticks” and doesn’t update to the “new” price using New Listing Format

BEWARE!

-If you change the price of a copied listing, the PRICE CHANGE in “New Listing Format” DOESN’T STICK! (Now I have to ALSO figure out if the other changes I made “stuck”!)

Used “New” Listing format, Copied an old listing, changed all the particulars and saved it so I could get measurements for the item. Opened the listing, entered the measurements, decided to mark the price higher, then published the listing. Old price shows live…

Went back to edit the “Live” listing showing the wrong price—on my end it shows the price I want it to be. Published it again, still the WRONG price! I even had my daughter (who doesn’t live here) check my shop and she saw the wrong price too.

**I WAS able to change the price within the “Old” listing format and it stuck.

Apologies if this has already been posted…i don’t have the time to try and see if anyone else posted aboutthis issue. I sure have a LOT more to do than check and re-check listings I thought I was done with. Grrrrr!!!

Had this exact same problem today. Was told by etsy support to go back to the old form and make the change…good thing we have to switch in a few days. Good thing Etsy rolled out a form with so many issues and we get to diagnose the bugs!

That’s so irritating to have a workaround ready for THOSE WHO CALL / CHAT instead of a NOTICE on the listing page that alerts to this possibility and the workaround! If changing in the old format didn’t work I was just going to deactivate it and wait a day or so to publish it again. I purposefully don’t contact them unless it’s a HUGE issue because it just pisses me off more.

Too many glitches with this  new form. I am having the same problem.  They always change things when it's good.

Thanks for your post. This "fix" worked for me too. Let's hope they fix this issue in the next two days since the old form is being retired on the 25th.

Yes, I had the same problem. Finally went into the old form and changed it first then published under the new one. What a timeburner!

Having the same issue. I will attempt the wprkaround.

This issue was happening in 2022 and Etsy still has a problem.

This does not bode well for the platform.

Re: OLD Price on copied listing “sticks” and doesn’t update to the “new” price using New Listing For

Many, many threads about this now.

Of course, since it's the weekend, this won't be addressed until Monday, if at all.

Some wonder if it's intentional, forcing sellers to create new listings when they can't change the price on an existing one.

I believe it's working (not working) as intended. It's too late for anything else.

Chill wolfArt, I am afraid you are probably right.

Just like the search here…I don’t believe it’s broken, I believe it is functioning EXACTLY how it was intended to. It’s the thrift store / Walmart  approach- show them one or two things that meet the description of their query and bombard them with 1000 other distractions.

I'm still using the old listing format and I noticed today that many of the prices I changed were NOT changed in my shop. But they show correctly in my Listing Manager.

Re: OLD Price on copied listing “sticks” and doesn’t update to the “new” price using New Listing For

So frustrating! I also hate that in the new format it doesn’t publish and then immediately give the option of opening and viewing the Live listing. The “go to listing” or whatever the old format gave as an option was so convenient!

Imagine if I hadn’t checked? I mean I try to but I am a busy person! That extra 15-20 seconds and multiple clicks to get to see it live grates my nerves every time.

Due to those extra steps I actually considered not checking it when I published it earlier. (Not that this is a good idea!)

It would have really ticked me off if someone purchased it at the lower price before noticed this!

Another part of the "intentional" theory; make it difficult to see the new listing at once, and how many take the extra steps to check it???

There will be many pissed off sellers whose items sold for less than they thought they had set up.

@leinweberstudio

there was a time that I would have given the benefit of the doubt over things like this but the longer I’m here that’s happening less and less. I mean, what purpose would it possibly serve to purposely mess with our listing details and price?

oh wait, I should know by now it  doesn’t matter what I’m confused  about!

GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!!!!!!!!!

I'm still hoping it's a glitch and that, once they all get back from their weekend stuff, it'll get fixed.

Sadly, that hope is at a measly 5% against 95% intentional.

Because surely some admin would have seen the multiple tech threads about it by now???

I'm using the New Listing Tool.  Listed an item yesterday.  Went in to change the price.  Will not allow.  I am also unable to revert to the Old Listing Tool.  So Frustrating.

Re: OLD Price on copied listing “sticks” and doesn’t update to the “new” price using New Listing For

Yes, it is on all listings in both my shops.

Old, new, duplicated, it doesn't matter. I tried all of those with the same result.

Lots of extra 20 cents for Etsy from those who simply must change it and end up creating a new listing to show the correct price.

The fact that, despite there being several threads about this now, not a single admin has chimed in to say it's something that's being investigated speaks volumes.

Re: OLD Price on copied listing “sticks” and doesn’t update to the “new” price using New Listing For

@NiciLaskin , @leinweberstudio

THIS IS RIDICULOUS on so many levels! .20 doesn’t seem like much and I’m guilty of just eating it (like the time I suddenly had 38 listings (wrongly) expire on the SAME DAY ((In 9 + years I have never once listed more than 2 in one day)) yet when they showed in the expired section they ALL had different dates of expiry…many before I even owned the pieces I listed! The Etsy reps I spoke to told me nothing can be done because there wasn’t a problem- “they all have different expiration dates so you must have just not noticed them and not renewed them.” At most I have only had 130 listings at once…. When I sent them screenshots of my payment account showing the listing dates for all of those items that shouldn’t be expired they did nothing.

I'm curious...

These days, when I copy an expired listing in order to  create a  'new' listing,  improvements to my descriptions "stick" while increases to my prices don't.  Why the disparity ???  SOooo frustrating.

Re: OLD Price on copied listing “sticks” and doesn’t update to the “new” price using New Listing For

I was going to do some new listings but after all the issues I've had the last few days and all the other complaints I've been seeing, I will be waiting until at least a few days after the new form is all we have and see if Etsy can get their act together and have it working. Tired of wasting my time going round and round and getting little done.

Re: OLD Price on copied listing “sticks” and doesn’t update to the “new” price using New Listing For

I also used to use the "duplicate" option when listing a new item and then would just go in and change photos/price & any other details & particulars (kind of like using a template for me anyway)... I was hoping I could still do that - even though I know etsy would force feed me into the new listing format.  Am purposely waiting a few days after the 20th to see if any of this (unnecessary IMHO) extra frustration etsy's dumping on sellers gets sorted out.

I still firmly believe that ALL etsy employees on any level (including the "top") should have to open and run an etsy shop for a minimum of 3 months and make a minimum of 3 sales before they can work there!
