Now WHITE squares are showing instead of black....

Jump to solution

Not sure if anyone is now seeing this, but as I'm scrolling through my shop - a large number of listing photos are now appearing white. I can re-adjust the listing photo and fix it, but this is happening to old listings now - not recent ones I tried to list in the past week. I don't believe the 'fix' actually fixed the issue, but shifted it?

could be your ISP or browser, but I'm seeing everything as a photo in your shop.

It's not - numerous people are having this issue this past week - we've all tried clearing caches, different devices, different browsers, etc. - it's an Etsy glitch that they seemed to have tried to fix yesterday, but we are all still having issues...

I am not seeing anything in your shop that is a white box or a black box...

so, you may be seeing this, but I am NOT, which means (to me) that it could be a localized thing.

Not dissing your opinion/experience...just providing mine.

You may not be seeing them now, as I just spent 20 minutes re-adjusting the listing photos....

I see black or white thumbnail squares on my listing photos.  I think I may have found a way to fix my photo thumbnail listing so that they show up. See the following steps (scroll to bottom of page for all info):

1. Go to listing photo that is not showing up and click on it. Edit the listing. Click on the edit tab.

2. The photo that has the problem not being displayed is the first photo when you are editing that listing. Look at the thumbnail ADJUSTMENT  photo. I found that the adjustment photo is NOT displayed by the thumbnail adjustment "icon". Click on the adjustment icon tab. You will see the photo appear. Adjust the photo even if you don't

need to . Save your listing. Refresh your home page and go to the listing that wasn't displayed and you should see it. Volia. It worked for me. I hope it stays displayed.

Posted this on the other thread to your reply, but:

That's what I have been doing - going in and 're-adjusting' the listing photo - and yes, it does appear afterwards when you save - but I'm playing wack-a-mole because I fix dozens and then a whole new set goes blank..... I don't have time to keep re-adjusting newly blank listing photos all day! This is loosing a lot of people business I'm sure!

So sorry to hear that you had  more thumbnails go blank. Yes that is wack-a-mola! I just placed my shop on vacation mode yesterday and will not open back up until April. However, the thumbnails that I adjusted 2 1/2 weeks ago are still holding in place with no additional issue to any other listings. I also create several new listings prior to placing my shop on vacation and everything looks good. I hope when I reopen my shop in April that I have no issues. This is truly sad for shop owners.

I couldn't find anything under "photo upload issues" in the forum, but here it is. I've been having this problem from my desktop. When doing a batch upload from my download folder, a few show up as blank white squares. I have to delete each of these & then try again with single photos. Some won't "take" from my download folder (where they're final/have been edited) & I have to pull the originals from my Pictures folder. Major pain in the ____.  Have tried clearing cache, going on with Firefox instead of Google - none of that works. The one thing that seems to help a little is creating new listings from scratch instead of copying from something similar; although it's also more time consuming.
