I just decided to start selling on Etsy and listed some items to sell. I got emails saying that Etsy has verified my business info and that I can begin selling. However Etsy has forced my shop into vacation mode, and I’m not able to turn it off. I haven’t even been able to begin selling yet.
I’ve started two different support tickets and I’ve only gotten automated answers from Etsy and still cannot turn off vacation mode. They have stopped responding to my tickets.
It’s so frustrating because Etsy has charged me for my listings and the 4 months I’m paying for the listings to be active has started (over two weeks ago), but I’m haven’t even been given the opportunity to sell. From what oven read this is a common issue, but I don’t know what to do to fix it. Please help!
Stop opening new tickets. Every time you do, the old one is closed and the new one goes to the end of the queue. The first responses are auto-bot ones but scroll to the bottom and click the 'still need help' button. Eventually you will get to a real person. You may also be able to use the 'contact us' in the shop manager window and have the chat option. Be aware that Etsy customer service is outsourced and the staff usually work from a script/might not actually know.
Thank you, I truly appreciate your response. So far I've only opened two tickets, but it has been a week since I opened the second one and I never eve got the auto bot response. Does that seem like normal amount of time to wait? I looked at my shop manager page and doesn't look like I have the option to chat. Bummer!
@FaceOfNatureDesigns Only Etsy can turn off vacation mode if they put you on it.
What products were you selling? Were you in violation of any of Etsy policies?
What is the city and state you reside? Under your shop name you should have your location > Profile >Account Settings > Public Profile > Save.
In the meantime you may want to read the Sellers Handbook and Etsy House Rules.
I’m selling coffee mugs and handmade greeting cards. But I’ll check out the handbookand make sure I filed in my city and state!
Have you been able to send the information Etsy wants? Your shop probably won’t be opened back up until they get the information and make sure it’s what they need.
Thank you for your response. Yes I sent them everything they requested and got an email saying I’m approvedto sell!

From what I understand, Etsy doesn't see this as an issue. This is now standard for many new sellers. Etsy purposely pauses many new shops while ID and banking info is verified.
I could understand that, but if that’s the case they need to improve communication. I’ve gotten multiple emails saying my information has been verified and I can begin selling. They also shouldn’t be charging for listings until you are approved to sell. I agree with you though that they don’t see it as an issue.
