Hello Etsy Community. I have been working most of the morning listing new items in my shop as well as refreshing older ones. I have uploaded new video to 2 of my items and BOTH listings have uploaded videos/items that are not mine!!! The thumbnail shows my item(s) but when the video(s) play they are both someone else’s videos/products. Kind of crazy, and I don’t know how to fix it. I took the first one down and re-uploaded it, but the same thing happened (same strange video.) I’m listing earrings, but the video was a giant pillar crystal (not me or mine) the second/different listing was a pair of chain teardrop dangle earrings (not me or mine.) Has anyone else experienced this!? I hope Etsy catches this soon because it’s kinda freaky, and I hope other people aren’t getting my videos. For now I will just keep my two listings without video.
Others have posted about this in the past. Did you try renaming the video file before uploading again? I'm trying to recall if that was a "fix" for others.
@Rinestonecoyote: It appears that videos are not fully renamed like listing images are. Perhaps there was a naming clash. Try @CanningCrafts 's suggestion - perhaps always prepend your videos with your shop name or something like that. That may or may not work but I don't believe any fix or reply from Etsy has been posted.
@vintageNCtreasures: "Something IMO isn't secure on this site for something like that to happen." OP says the thumbnail is correct so the upload would appear to be secure and correct. The wrong video playing more likely is a naming issue or an indexing issue on the back end. You cannot secure the viewing of images and / or videos by log in or no one but the person who uploaded them could ever see them.
I went back later in the day and was able to upload my own videos without anymore problems. It was strange for sure and I have no idea why it was happening. I was using my phone/the app when it was happening.

Yikes, how does that even happen?
That makes no sense at all, you're signed in and upload YOUR video yet another sellers video shows up?
Something IMO isn't secure on this site for something like that to happen.
I've seen other posts about this.

I looked through the forum & found posts about this same issue going back to the beginning of 2024. In one post, some sellers were able to delete & reupload with success. Sounds like that didn't work for everyone, but renaming videos if they had generic or common names may have worked for some. It's worth a try.
Some sellers were getting really inappropriate videos show up on their listings (adult product videos)! Yikes!!
