No notification or email for a new message - star seller status

On May 6 I apparently received a message from a customer and I didn't get a notification or email. I saw it accidentally 2 days later.

This message was not marked as spam and it was from an actual customer. So I answered it too late and now it messed up my star seller status, resulting in a too low message response rate (83%). 
I am bummed about this because I always take a lot of care to answer on time.
Can this ranking be remedied somehow, because I think it's incorrect.

No, they will not adjust your stats. You never know what glitches might be happening on a given day, so it is best to log in and manually check for messages at least once a day.

This exact situation happened to me and is the reason I came to the forums. 
I did not get a new message notification nor did I receive an email. I check my Etsy account multiple times a day so I am certain I did not miss any messages. 
Hopefully it will work itself out as I don’t expect Etsy Support to be of any assistance. It’s very frustrating.

@HipChicksDesign You can download your message history on the Star Seller page and see what messages Etsy says did not get a reply or a not quick enough reply.

Never ever depend on notifications or emails to keep up with your shops.

If you had a brick and mortar business would you ignore it for days at a time?

Consider your shop as a brick and mortar because anyone can walk in at any time.  The internet is open 24-7.

Sure, and I keep up with my shop every day, but I didn't think that I had to manually check the messages every day as well. The notifications have been forthcoming since this issue, but the damage is done.
I asked Support about this, but all they did was send me here. I thought there would be technical solutions, but it seems more like a good collective place to complain. Which I like, don't get me wrong.
