New Seller - Never messaged before but Messages Disabled

I am a new seller on Etsy, and it's been roughly a month. I just got my first message but the website and mobile app both say "messages disabled." Since I never messaged anyone or sold anything, I shouldn't be in violation. How can I get messages enabled?

What did the person who sent you the message ask or say?  Do not post it verbatim here, just a general idea.  Did they say they were having trouble ordering and need your email address?

@DesignsByDavidChang: Did the error message say something like "Bummer, your messages have been temporarily disabled" or was it something like "User Name is Invalid"?
