New QR code for 2 factor authentication
I just reset my phone and all data in the microsoft authentication is gone and I need to link my Etsy shop to the app again. I went into Etsy and looked for a QR code so I can scan with my phone, like the first time when I set it up. I toggled the "Authenticator App", hoping to turn it off and then on again to get a new QR code. But it asked for the code generated by the authentication app in order to turn off 2 factor authentication. Then the problem is my authentication app is not working anymore and not linked to the Etsy account. What can I do? Panicking...

Re: New QR code for 2 factor authentication
Forgot to mention that I also used the "regenerate backup codes" and try to use one of them to turn off 2 factor authentication and it didn't work either.

Re: New QR code for 2 factor authentication
‘Regenerate back up codes’ suggests you hadn’t saved the original back up codes from your authenticator app before you reset your phone, so I guess they wouldn’t apply. You’re going to have to get in touch with Etsy to help you sort this out.

Re: New QR code for 2 factor authentication
@LemonTreeSupplies: The backup codes are to login when you do not get the code via normal channels - the code you are being asked for is different and is intended to keep someone else from deactivating your two factor authentication. Contacting Etsy is probably your only solution.

Re: New QR code for 2 factor authentication
same problem. I got the 10 back up codes when i set up shop. When Etsy asked for a code from my authenticator app, i got one on my phone from Google Authenticator, but that code and subsequent codes would not be accepted by Etsy sign in. So I used the back up codes ...successfully for a while, but I've used all 10 codes. So, I've regenerated a new list of 10 back up codes, but now they do not work either. I just want to turn off the authenticator, and get confirmed via text. Does anyone have any ideas? Thanks

Re: New QR code for 2 factor authentication
I sent Etsy a support request, told them that I had problem with my authentication app, and asked them to disable 2 factor authentication. Then they asked me several questions to confirm my identity, and went ahead and disabled it. They got back to me pretty quickly.
