PS: The message in question did not come from Etsy, and we have already actioned the account attempting to impersonate admin.
Etsy logo and all, I did not think and put in my email....immediately got a message in my regular email that I was going to be locked out and suspended if I didn't "login" through this email. Luckily, this one did not look as good as the one in my etsy dashboard.......
tread carefully folks......
A typical SCAM targeting new sellers. Put those messages into spam
At this point opening a shop on Etsy is like moving into an apartment building with cockroaches.
Did you not see a pop up on the message page that if a message was from Etsy it would be in the "FROM ETSY" section on the message page?
If it's NOT there it's NOT from Etsy.
Etsy has your email, they don't need it NOR would they ever ask you to send it in a chat.
You also should have had a light orange BOX warning right on the message section about these scams.
BUT if you clicked "OK I got it" without reading the info, then you won't see it again.
There's nothing that states on the help pages that you have to send Etsy or a buyer your email, your bank/CC info etc to get paid.
It's a SCAM to STEAL your money!
my bad...i did not see that warning box, but I should have known to use the "From Etsy" Mailbox, not just the "Inbox"..it just looked so routine (this is my 2nd account I opened for a different line of merch)...Just though it was strange the timing of the mail as a "new" lister.....Thanks for the replies...
