I would rather speak to etsy about this since this issue has more to it.
The person I sold my item to had an incorrect address and sent me a message. He lives within a mile. So, this could be corrected if someone at etsy could read my customer's message.
I did have a shipping label and charged a stamp through etsy and hand delivered my item. I was told this is a way to have it complete in etsy system so I can get credit for a sale and get a review.
I am still not able to change the order as "delivered" from completed.
I have gone through community reviews and this did not help me. I need someone to guide me step /by /step- if it indeed can be fixed or done? Is there any help or do I need to make this public on social media? Please help?
If you hand delivered it you can only mark it complete manually. Why did you buy a shipping label if you were hand delivering? I think you may have been mistaken in thinking you could then mark it delivered? The tracking information updates come from the delivery carrier. Since you didn't use the label it will never show as delivered. If it hasn't been too long you may be able to at least get your money back for the label.

I got bad info on this community results. It is not easy being a new etsy shop owner with no customer service or phone number to assist. I have a day job, too, thank goodness- because I could never support myself with only an etsy- so, they should have this in mind and made it easier to speak to someone for things like this.
I did not make a full label with the shipment amount. I only did a stamp - for a letter- because someone or somewhere said that is what you do as a work around for hand delivering. You get a seemingly tracking # assigned and the eluded to that being enough to trigger the etsy shop to reflect to track the sent, completion/ delivered. -but, that was bad info. USPS said that they could not provide a receipt for a pitney bowes stamp from etsy today. So, they can only provide tracking from package. Bad info from the community. I ever would have thought to do that if somebody wouldn't have acted as if that would work. Instead, I am still spending hours typing to no avail.
If etsy had a decent cstmr srvc that could investigate the matter they could see the message on the platform stating that buyer received and how pleased he was. I used to work with ebay on matters and they at least made it easy to speak to someone,
It is so important to show that my item was sent on time, delivered, and etc. So I am not happy. Instead it says: pre-transit and I do not like etsy because I am a savy person, but was led to believe in random community who does not really care about my success.. and neither does etsy.
I still have no resolve.
I still have not spoken to anyone.
I am still in search to speak to someone if there is some way they can research the messages that show my buyer was happy. If they did not receive they would have tried to get a credit by now
Oh I see. Did you buy a stamp to mail an invoice/receipt later so that it could count for star seller? You have to mail them something for the tracking to update.
The only way an order is marked delivered is when the shipping label is scanned by the post office at delivery.
If your processing time has passed it won't help you to mail something now.
@LindaDillardArt: As others have said, "Delivery" is dependent on the tracking number you provided Etsy at the time you marked the order as complete to be scanned as delivered by the shipping courier. Did you actually send something using the shipping label?

As a rule, if the buyer changes the shipping address you should be cautious. For the Seller Protection Program Etsy says you must "Ship the order to the address provided on Etsy."
you have to buy postage with tracking, and post it off, by the "ship by" date
then, when you mark as complete, before the ship by date, you add the tracking number at that time, to the order, so the scans on what you sent, are picked up by etsy.
You do have 3 days to add the tracking number, once marking it as complete, but it still has to be added by the "ship by" date for things like star seller.

I have read you can buy pitney bowes cheap shipping from etsy, which has tracking, so you can use it to mail a receipt to the customer, and the scans will be reflected on etsy
If you buy from etsy, from the order, (before you marking as complete) they mark as complete and add the tracking number, but you still have to mail off the receipt, so the tracking scan can update etsy

You don't need it to show delivered for a review, once it's past the estimated delivery date, they can leave a review - which is why people can leave reviews about items never arriving
