NOT RECEIVING ETSY NOTIFICATIONS

I recently had about four orders and I was NEVER  notified by Etsy that I had any orders. I had to refund all of them which makes my store look bad.  I have also been dealing with a daughter that was in a coma for months. she recently passed away and in the same week my uncle passed away and then my brother was badly beaten after having an accident with a road rage person and almost had his eye knocked out. we had to put him in a skilled nursing facility. This was and is still heart breaking and mind blowing.  In the midst of this I was getting ready for cataract surgery on both eyes, which was done on Monday. One of my daughters is writing this for me.

I’m a 74 year old  handicapped senior citizen on a fixed income. This is my little side money since I cannot work anymore. I’m a responsible seller with good reviews because my work is my passion and people love my patches but I truly didn’t know I had any orders because again Etsy never notified me through the app. Because I am a senior citizen I don’t do well with checking emails.  What is another way I can get notified of sells in my shop so this doesn’t continue to happen? Because of this, I have a bad review that hurts my reputation even though I have returned the money.

Re: NOT RECEIVING ETSY NOTIFICATIONS

Quite a few sellers have reported that they are also not getting notifications.  It would be a good idea to log into your shop at least once a day to check not only for orders, but also messages and other time sensitive issues.

You should read this Seller Handbook article though to prevent other problems:

The Ultimate Guide to Intellectual Property

Extending my sympathy for all that you've been going through.

Great advice.

The OP doesn't want to add getting sued to her problems.

Re: NOT RECEIVING ETSY NOTIFICATIONS

@HighTechEmbroidery   The best thing to do is check your shop once a day.  My condolences for your loss, and prayers for a speedy recovery of both you and your brother.  I'm also sorry to see a 1 star review.  If you would like a quick shop critique we can help you to possibly increase your sales just let us know. For example, adding a longer title will help you being found in search for more keywords. The first couple sentences of your description should be keyword rich too.  The seller handbook in your shop manager dashboard can help you as well. Prayers to you and your family.

Re: NOT RECEIVING ETSY NOTIFICATIONS

@HighTechEmbroidery: Sorry to hear about what you are going through, but platforms like Etsy do not seem to make any allowances for personal issues. Unfortunately it does not take much imagination to understand why, as unscrupulous sellers would immediately pounce upon that as something else they could exploit.

As others have pointed out, app notifications have been an issue for quite some time. Even eMail notifications are unreliable for some shops. The consensus is that a seller needs to check their shop for messages and orders at least daily via a browser until these issues are resolved.

Whenever you use other people's intellectual property (IP) you need to include YOUR licensing within the listing itself, otherwise it may be considered a counterfeit and therefore illegal. And some intellectual property owners, like Taylor Swift, DC Comics, and Marvel, are very proactive in cases of the theft of their trademarks and copyrights. If you do not have licensing, you may want to discuss your business plan with a qualified IP attorney.
