Anyone else having issues with the calculations for Star Seller Shipping Badge - I have multiple items that are under $15 (small items shipped without tracking) that have been included in the calculation (negatively) towards my Shipping Badge. Anyone have any insight?
Hello @clotheslinesvintage,
We've double-checked the orders that affected your Star Seller(review period: June 1–August 31, 2022), we can then confirm that their total value is CA$15 and above but no tracking information was added. To get a closer breakdown of the orders that affected your Star Seller, we strongly recommend that you download the CSV file of your On-time shipping. Simply go to your Shop Manager dashboard > Star Seller dashboard page > selecting the On-time shipping & tracking tile > selecting the ‘Export’ link next to ‘Order breakdown’.
Thank you very much!
Maybe you understand this part already, but it's by order amount and not item amount. The amount is also $10.
For example, if someone ordered two $6 items and this $12 order was shipped without tracking that would count against you for the calculation.
In Canada, it's actually 15$ CAD.
And, yes, it's by order total and also before any discount.
Yes. Got that part, but thank you. This is on single orders of less than $15. I specifically updated listings for earrings and scarves I was shipping with option for Standard Letter Mail (no tracking) to ship free from $15 Cdn to $10 and $12 and it is these orders that are impacting my Shipping Badge calculation. Sigh. I will reach out to Etsy directly and see if there is a reason/solution. Thanks for your reply!

@clotheslinesvintage : As mentioned previously, it is $10 and and this is for the item(s) total BEFORE discounts, shipping, taxes, etc. If you look at an order, it is essentially the amount titled "Item Total". For tracking requirements, a $10 item at a 50% Sale is still $10 not $5
I did not see a location on @clotheslinesvintage's shops home page so I think brain automatically presumed a US shop.
And for US shops, or anyone selling in US$, there is no threshold. All orders must have tracking.
Most of my items are under ten dollars with shipping and etsy has always included them in the tracking requirements. Etsy's explanation of the requirements is that orders under US$10 or CAN$15 don't require tracking but they don't say etsy won't count them toward your star seller badge.
I can't say for sure but I don't think Canada has that $15.00cdn threshold any more. Months ago I shipped some buttons from my other shop to Canada. They were under the amount, and they counted against the star seller.
From the current Etsy article "How to Become a Star Seller"
"Orders of a certain value will need to have tracking or a shipping label purchased on Etsy. The requirement values are based on currency.
GBP: £10 and above
EUR: €10 and above
CAD: $15 and above
AUD: $15 and above
All other currencies (inclusive of USD): Tracking or a shipping label purchased on Etsy required for all orders."
My take is that a Canadian seller should still qualify for Star Seller if they ship any order valued at CAD14.99 or less without tracking.
@clotheslinesvintage please let us know how you go with Etsy support.
I'll also add this line from the article, recently added:
"We use the total value of the items purchased before any discounts, not including shipping and taxes."
So it isn't actually order value.
@clotheslinesvintage Fellow Canadian here who ships mostly low $ items (postcards, ephemera). The tripping point is if we list our shops in US dollars, everything needs to ship with tracking. Sadly we cannot purchase a first class label on Etsy as US sellers can, to satisfy the tracking criteria. Yes, that puts us at a distinct disadvantage but honestly I gave up chasing the star, until it matters in search ranking or placement. My customers know how good my customer service is, with or without a star. Only way around this is to list in Cdn $s
thank you @TheOldBarnDoor for that clarification. I list in US dollars. I have been considering using an inactive shop for paper, fabric, buttons, supplies type stuff etc for no tracking items but now I'm afraid all my shops will get caught up in the Plaid net. Should have done it a year ago.
you have a few things that are $18.00, reduced to $10.80 - those have to be shipped tracked
and if someone buys more than 1, it will need to be tracked
@CraftyCornishMaids As noted above, all items, regardless of value need to ship with tracking as the OP is a Canadian seller who choses to list in US $. The value of the item needing tracking only would be applicable if the OP lists in Cdn $s. As Canadians cannot purchase first class labels on Etsy to satisfy tracking it puts us at a bit of a disadvantage. Perhaps Canadians who use the ChitChats shipping service have found a way to satisfy tracking for Etsy's purpose. I cannot speak for other countries who may be in a similar situation but that is how Canadian sellers are impacted.
The OP hasn't said they list in USA$ a couple of others have, but the OP hasn't
they may well do, but they haven't said they do
