Hi, Everyone. I’m having a technical issue. A customer messaged me and said she is receiving the following error when trying to place an order.
“Oh dear. There was a problem submitting your order. Please give it another shot. If you continue to have problems, please contact support.”
I went into my etsy help and tried to chat with customer service. I seemed to be chatting with a bot. I was told everything with my shop is fine and that the shop is active with no issues.
I had two other people try to purchase something, and they also got the error. One reported the error and received this:
“Costumer service support:
Being honest with you, so far everything seems to be good with your account, address, and the cart settings. This does actually seem to be more related to the payment settings for the listing on the seller's side
im at a loss and totally frustrated. I need help. I don’t want to shut down this shop. I put so much work into it!
It could be one of 2 things. Either the buyer's card is not valid/current. Or since you are a new seller, there are lots of scammers targeting new shops
"Being honest with you" doesn't really sound like an Etsy response. Usually any time someone uses that phrase they aren't being honest with you.
Are they including links to try to have you click on to "look"? This really does sound more like a scam than an Etsy issue. That also seems like a lot of buying activity for a brand new shop.
Since you're a new seller those messages were more than likely from scammers trying to get you off Etsy to enter your bank account or CC info to supposedly verify your account.
If anything ever needs updated on your account, they'll be a notice on your dashboard / finance page. If nothing is there, nothing needs verifying.
Did you notice this statement on your message page? It's right under a message and above where you type a reply.
"To stay protected, stay on Etsy. Never follow links to other sites, and don’t share contact, account, or financial info with anyone in Messages. Learn how to spot spam."

The message the buyer got ("If you continue to have problems, please contact support.") means that THEY should contact support.
