My Star Seller has errors and the Etsy help said to come here...?

Etsy is calculating my Star Seller wrong. It says I have two orders without tracking information, but when I download the spreadsheet and find the two orders it says don't have tracking information, they both literally DO have tracking information.

The Etsy help files say if my Star Seller is calculated incorrectly, let them know, and provides a link.

The link brings me here to the community board.

Soooooo...... there's no way to let Etsy know about this? 

I did contact support through Chat, but Eduardo said that Star Seller isn't necessary for sellers and really gave the impression that it is pretty meaningless, so that has me concerned, as well.

Etsy Help sent you here because there is nothing they can do for you.

We are supposed to pat you on the head and say "There, there. Etsy sucks. Sorry!"

There is literally nothing we can do for you.

They can't and won't change your metrics. Star Seller is run automatically.

Even if there are glitches, they won't fix them.

This is what I suspected. Etsy holds us sellers to much higher standards that it holds itself.

Eduardo did also say that tech support is aware and this is their top priority, but considering I also chatted with Fritz last week who said the same thing, I suspect this is just a line that the third-party customer support people say to get people to go away.

@BoulevardDesigns: "... they both literally DO have tracking information ..." What happens if you click on the tracking number link on the actual order? If it opens the courier's tracking page and shows the scan history then you have proof that the tracking information was entered correctly.

If that does not work and if the shipping company is supported by Etsy make sure that the shipped date, tracking number and shipping company show correctly on the actual order. Etsy relies on a third party vendor for tracking (and tracking number validation) and uses the data on the order.

An unsupported shipping company or invalid / unverified tracking number equals shipped without tracking.

Yes, the tracking information is present and accurate. It's a third party shipper that I use, but one supported by Etsy. Etsy Chat has acknowledged that the orders have tracking information.

@BoulevardDesigns: The suggestion has made that if contacting Etsy for help with messaging or tracking, to NOT mention Star Seller so as to keep the focus on the issue rather than the purple star.

Unfortunately they send sellers here to end the conversation.  They are aware nobody here can do anything.  Sorry.  I had the same thing happen with 2 orders and couldn't even get anyone to talk to me. The orders themselves had attached usps tracking that said delivered. The csv had a line of*!#'cvb#% characters on those orders then it said no tracking.  I just had to wait 3 months for it to drop off.

Star Seller is of no use to you. It is a chimera. It doesn't bring you extra customers because your market exposure is in Etsy's software algorithm and doesn't take Star Seller into account. Take care of your business without the Star Seller. It is? Good! Is not? Good! When they do meetings, someone who wants a premium thinks, what else should we torture the sellers with? Plus the Etsy market is a huge opportunity to test all kinds of management experiments.

The Chat people can do nothing to solve problems like this. They are just reading from their script and can only answer questions that are already in the seller's handbook.

To dispute this you will need to go thru the help screen and send them an email appealing their decision. Be sure to keep it all in one thread because if you open a 2nd email, they will close the first one.

Even then, you will probably get 2 or 3 canned responses sent by bots that do not address your problem before a real person look at it. Then they may or may not fix it for you. But probably not. By the time you reach a real person, they will probably be into compiling scores for the next month.

I often do not make enough money to qualify for Star Seller. It doesn't make any difference at all. This month I accidentally got SS, and my views have dropped! Nothing to stress about, it just a flim flam.
