My Payout currency is set to Philippine Pesos, but I never set that up!?

Hello there,

Since I started my Etsy store, it was calculating all my expenses and earnings in PHP. I was 100% convinced this is like an internal currency because anything else would not have made sense.

Now that I am able to get some payouts I realized that PHP stands for Philippine Pesos.
I live in New Zealand, my address, My bank account details I set-up are all in New Zealand, I never changed that.

The only thing I changed is that my prices show up in USD in my store. Everything else is set-up in NZD. BUT.. my payout is set-up in PHP.

I received 2 times the notification that my bank account could not be verified, and then I realized that it was saying that my bank account country is Philippines. I never selected that. So I am very confused how that came together.

I have this store since 2021, but I just started selling stuff end of last year.
Support tells me that I have to redo the whole store..

Honestly I do not understand why they can't change that?
They never complained about my address being in NZ, and getting payed from an NZ account, but now apparently they can't fix this technicality.

Any body had success with similar issues?

Under: Location Settings it says:

Region: New Zealand

Language: English (US)

Currency: $United States Dollars (USD)

But under Shop Currency it says:

Your shop listing currency is USD.

For Etsy Payments orders, you will receive PHP deposited to your bank account via your Shop Payment Account. Since you list in a currency other than your bank account currency, we will do a currency conversion with a 2.5% fee added to the current market rate. You can change your shop listing currency to PHP at any time to avoid this conversion.

But I never set anything in my details that has to do anything with the Philippines.

Did you intitailly set your currency to New Zealand?  If so and it is doing something different you may have to contact Etsy.  Etsy pays you only in the currency you set your shop up in.

You can change your currency for how it shows to buyers.  Unless there is a monetary gain,, it is best to let the buyer see your items in the currency they are using rather.

Did you at any point check the shipping cost for other countries?  If you don't switch it back to your country then you will see everything in the country last used for shipping.

Is your POD in the US then shipping will be in US dollars.  Frankly I'm not sure how it works internationally to use a POD outside of ones own country.

@MarinoGraphy  - Where did you live when you opened the shop in 2021? It appears you have already contacted Etsy support & their advice was to open a new shop. They will often do this if you moved from one country to another.

Re: My Payout currency is set to Philippine Pesos, but I never set that up!?

I have been living in NZ for the past 9 years..
I did not move.

I really just want my payout currency to be NDZ.
I was able to re-verify my NZ bank account. But looks like the payout currency is still PHP

etsy sets the currency to whatever you set it up originally

did you have a buyer account only, with something set to the philippines?

...

etsy does not change the currency they pay in - ever

@CraftyCornishMaids  - But if the OP has a buyer only account, wouldn't it be viewed this way? As an entirely separate account, complete with the different email, possibly different credit card info., etc?

@JMOldeVintage

I didn't write that very well,

I meant was it a buyer only account set up as the Philippines, before they added the shop, and then changed the things they could see
