Messaging- Star Seller - Using the Etsy App verses Desktop Etsy

HELP! When I answer messages using a mobile unit they are not getting recognized as being answered for the star seller program. Also, after I answer the buyers message, hours later the same message from the buyers shows up again. I answer the same message again. I login to Etsy desktop and can see where the messages are in double and triplicate, back to back same response sent again and again.

Has anyone found a way to navigate this without looking like a crazy seller repeating themselves just to accommodate this new star seller madness?  Unfortunately, this shop is not my only job and I have to use a mobile unit often to get things done. As everyone knows the Etsy app is very limiting for what can be done and glitches often but I have to rely on using it.

I'm tempted to just answer once but then if the buyer did send the same message again and I don't respond when I could have and then I'm kicked out of the star seller badge anyway, I'm stressed and all my efforts are nil. Yes, I have read all those fabulous people saying "don't worry about it" "who cares, just ignore it" well that is not the kind of person I am. I do care, I put a lot of effort into supporting my customers, shipping immediately, using composable packaging, maintaining quality and inventory on top of it all. Also, I think as a society by now we have learned that telling someone their feelings are not valid or to ignore them is really not good (or even kind) advice.

So who has found a trick or a way to navigate the messaging using the app? Thank you in advance for your constructive advice or tips to work this.

You could send the duplicates to spam rather than responding more than once to the same message.

That will put the original full thread in spam. I do refer to the history in our conversations for previous recommendations I've offered. However, if that is my option that's I what I've got. So the spam messaging in the app does communicate with the desktop spam messaging?  Thank you for you advice.

I see your point, even though the app was designed to be easy to use with convenience  doesn't mean that running a business should be made easy or conveniently setup. The app also doesn't show me who are returning customers and the browser does. I just have to stop using the seller app and just use the browser. Thank you I realize now I was looking for a short cut or life hack. Your clearly correct in your recommendation, thank you.

Just curious, but why do you have to rely on the app? It’s had problems since it first came out so I have always used my browser on my iPad and phone.

Hi, Sorry to hear your having problems.  ( Im ‘Felted Animal Echoes’ Etsy shop.).  I’m having the same problem I believe.  My Star rating for July is down to 75% because the messages I have responded to on my App, that I have recently downloaded, have not synced with my Online shop and it looks as though I have not responded to them, when I have.  My customers have also said they have struggled downloading photos to me through it also.  I feel they are penalising me unjustifiably, as my Customer Service is top notch, as my Reviews reflect.  Feeling very frustrated as there seems to be no help

Looks like they have announced an update for the app. Lets cross our fingers they fix the glitches and connect the app with the star seller program. Why wouldn't they connect the app with this seriously stressful seller program we are all turned upside down into crazy shop owners trying to comply with before they started the program to begin with? My hopes may be too high for this new app update.

If you downloaded and are using the "Etsy Seller Preview" app, be aware that is in Beta and not finished and wouldn't surprise me if messages aren't counted.

Another regular forum user say all messages they sent through the original "Sell on Etsy" app have counted.

I've used the app without any problems, however it can be troublesome so 99% of the time I use a browser. Either in mobile or desktop view.

The iPhone app has always been on point for me.  I have always been able to view and respond to messages no problem.

I don't use the app, but we have 24 hours in which to answer a message.  Why not just wait until days end to respond to messages that are not particularly time sensitive on a pc that is more reliable?
